Has any of you chaps got any info on purchasing/letting a unit/workshop? What sort of money are we looking at (obviously area dependant). What other fees are involved, ie rates etc? Ive been informed of two units for sale. Was thinking of buying them, renting one out and using the other. All pie in the sky but food needed for thought.............

i looked into getting a small unit round my way afew years ago (west london) and the cost just was stupid
rent for a 2,000 fotter was around £1500 per month
that did not include ground rent aka estate fee
it did not include electrick
did not include gas
neather did it include comercle waste disposal.
the list goes on

i was looking at a bill of around £2000 to £2500 per month just to have a roof over my head while i was working.

and everyone wounders why garage bills are so high

I rent a 2 car lockup, £86 a month with electric etc all in. Fell lucky with this though & took me years to find one this cheap.

We just took another unit on in South West London, rates are £150 a week, although because we own another unit and have been on the same estate for 15 years we got it at an unmissable price.

you wanna find a farm, that has units, but they are listed as agricultural buildings and not workshops. the farmer then doesnt get clobbered by the council.....your rent is cheaper, but slightly dodgy... ;)

my boss has a lock up near me with room for 8 gtt's or more. he keeps a small kubota, skip loader, the trailer and feck loads of other gear in there, yet there still loads of room.. the last user left stack of warehouse racking so thats gone up, its a rtoc members dream..

all for £200 a month..

me and a friend are thinking about a slightly smaller one for £140 but due to the layout only 2 cars would fit.. another downside is a 6pm lockdown, but then again the gears safe as i have no doubt anyone on the rob will be shot at:D

as said above its farm land and cash all the way..
