If they have a paypal balance and/or bank account linked then they can send it as a personal gift and no charges whatsoever .

3.4% generally for uk to uk accounts. I get funds from europe quite often and they seem to charge a lot more than that

re the personal gift option, I tried that *once* for 6.70 and paypal shut my business account down because they suspected fraudulent activity. That was 3 months ago, it's still suspended with a lot of money tied up in it. I hate paypal. If it's a trusted party maybe you could use bank transfer, its FOC.

ok thanks, so if i ask for say £104 then i should clear the full £100.? i dont want to risk the "send as gift" option.

I've moved largish amounts but only for people I trust 100% .
A mate in France has just bought an engine near me so I'm paying the guy and he's dropping it off here .My mate has PPd some dosh to cover .
This would be a legitimate gift transaction ......
