according to haynes manual brown one holds up to 1.2 bars and blue 1.6 bars of pressure .
as far as i know blue one is used on 16v cars such as clio 16v and renault
19 16v .

Nothing special about them. It's just the one for the gtt thats all. The brown ones are too low pressure.

Why does it have different pressures. I know the higher the pressure the hotter the water can get. Does that mean that the brown cap will help the water not get as warm or will it just mean that the water will boil in the system easier. Been a while since I done science at school :)

Dunno .....I got a blue one :uhhuh:

I would imagine that as the turbo engines generate more heat the higher pressure cap gives the water higher temp range :agree:

higher pressure cap allows you to heat water further without boiling it .
hence hotter running / high reving engines are fitted with them .

but than there is also the pressure aspect of the equation !!1.2 vs 1.6 bars .

on 19 16v , all water hoses are double skinned with a white layer on the inside
and a black one on the outside ,i believe thats done to compensate the higher pressure
cause i have not seen the same type hoses on my old 1.7 gtx (f2n) engine .

yes mate , brown is 1.2 bars , blue is 1.6 bars of pressure according to haynes .
my personal recommendation would be to use the same colour on your car
