My cup car rad fan does not kick in & the wiring loom looks like it has been butchered by stevie wonder...

So i am looking to make a basic but effective manual switch for the rad...

Firstly the orginal wires should be?

Fan Switch?
The two wires for the rad fan temp switch.. one red one orange yeah?
Red one goes to alternator and the orange to the fan relay?

Now i am thinking of maybe just running a power wire from the battery or back of the alternator direct to the Fan via a in car switch. I will earth the fan to the earth pointing on at the front of the engine bay (loads of black wires on it?)

Now what amp wiring would i need to you & what in line fuse should i use?

Any pics of how other people have wired theres up would be great... :D

well penfold my fury little friend

you can ethier bugger the rad switch off and run it like this

or run a 5 pin (4 pins in use) relay via the rad switch like this

the manual switch is optional,

i run the first one as i ussualy use the car on boost most of the time, but i run it warm and run it cool for 5 mins

You could just bridge the temp fan switch with a switch. Not much amperage through this wire as its just the trigger for the rad fan relay. :agree:

thats assuming the rest of the wiring is good, an by the sounds of it its not.

run a fused live from batt to fan, run earth into car through switch. switchable earth is safer. take note of thickness of o/e wires an use the same, disable the o/e wiring an ensure its safe

best idea is to repair/replace to how it should be. forget to switch it, it melts. forget to turn it off, flat battery
