Before anyone says i know there is a search button and it has been used :)

My problem is that my clio still isnt running properly and im sure its down to the carb as the mixture screw makes not difference where its at and i know its been sat literally for years. first point of call was the refurb kit but i cannot get the main jet out at all and its now dead! so its going to be a new carb. I read that the Group A ones are bad for overfueling but would i be better getting this when looking to the future and bigger bhp figures. i have looked at the k tec one at £100 and then checked the CGB and a standard one thats been overhauled is £130! has anyone any other viwes on what to go for? gamble on ebay?

P.S. im ghoing to treat myself to a afm also but where is best in the exhaust? can i get away with it in the turbo elbow? or will this destroy i?

If you've already used the search button, you'll already know that grp A carbs are a no no - No, in that there's no such thing in the real world, and no, in that it's not the way to go to improve fuelling.

Start with a good o.e spec carb, and go from there.

The elbow is a bit too near for mounting the w/b probe. Further down-stream in the downpipe is more ideal.

Stay away from grp a imo .

Take your old carb off and fully rebuild it ,get a refurb kit re jet its all in the club articles section on how to do it ,save the pennys , or buy a second hand carb of ebay or club or cgb and rebuild that 1 :)

thats what i am doing and just in the process of rebuilding it , sand blasted the outta cast unit of the carb new seals etc:)

i started my gt life with a "group A" carb fitted when i brought the car.
it over fuelled on normal driving but seriously under fuelled on boost.
this limited me not only how many miles id do in the car due to mpg but with how much the car could be tuned.

i listened to the guys here binned the Group A vent and socff fitted me a standard sized (25mm) vent.
the car from a fueling point hasnt let me down since, and fuels spot on for any occassion.

not so sure about the res tof the mods on my car, but the carb works..yey!!!
