Any questions?
Is there a Bar there? :)

Fastest C1J 5

Doh!

I dunno how long it's been there Mart, it's behind the hill on the opposite side of the strip to the grandstand, it's gotta stage and everything if you fancy giving us a turn :D
As for the fastest non renault, i wouldn't be quick to lay any money on DG winning, one of our members has got a little surprise lined up ;)
Bloody hell, that shows ya how long I haven't been to Pod then, as that defo wasn't there last time I graced the 1/4 mile.
If it's got a projector setup, I'll bring Guitar Hero & Rock Band :D
Ya right, Grier probably won't win anyway as he's a cr8p driver ;)

Man, your memory has gone to pot, big time. We've had many a pint in there over the years! Just a shame i'll have to wait a while longer until my next one
WTF?! Where?? I don't remember any bloody bars at Pod! :D A mobile jobby, maybe, but even that's pushing the memory into unknown territory :D but nothing hard-standing is ringing any bells for sure.

Down by the toilets, next to the start of the strip, on the side where we usually camp. The AGM's been in there before, and it's where Harpo and the boys set up the decks that year at Nat' Day.

Add it to your favourites, so you don't forget it :D
 Fecking hell, I reckon I've had a stroke or something :crap: :D
Tent? Toilets?
The only toilets I remember are the block that's kinda in-line with the finish line/gantry, or up that end of the strip anyway.
I also remember that sarcastic feck in the green coloured burger/snacks van who took great delight in ripping the p1ss out of me everytime I treated myself to one of those badical hot chocolate & squirty cream drinks (FTW!) :D

There's those "used to be" mobile bogs down the other end of the strip. As you drive down the entrance road into the pod, just before you go round the end of the strip (behind the start line), there's the camping field on the left, and the bogs/beer "tent" on the right, opposite.

No pressure then lads :D:D:D lol
Only ever seen the bar / tent thing open on bigger events - will bring my own ;)
So is that big power Rx7 the thing I need to worry about :P power is nothing without control. Details? I could always send Obi one (Scoff) down to shave half a second off for me lol - just like he did in the vag 5 0-60 run that time :P
Mart I am a driving god - can spin from any angle lol
Looking forward to some competition and doing a few tweaks at the weekend and will def be in the 11's

there s a qestion come up on gtt.co.uk asking if the guys from that site can come
of course i havent said anything but wondered, or is there only a certain amount of tickets avalible? i mean they wouldnt get the discount but would they be welcome to pay the £80? or suppose for £5 more they could become a member and pay for a £60 ticket
for those who are on there
http://www.renault5gtturbo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=36579#36579
As per above, anyone not a member can come, they can either join for £25 and get a £60 ticket from the link (also above), or pay £80 in the link above
Tickets are limited but it's first come first served :agree:
Yes they can come .
Non members pay £80 + £2.50 postage . All they need to do is register a shop account .
Or as you say they can join for £25 and get the ticket at £60 .
Pay on the day as well but we may have sold out before then .
http://www.rtoc.org/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=0&products_id=62
It's getting close now and a bank holiday means I'm going to have to post any remaining tickets Weds at the very latest and they may not get there in time ....I will have names of all those purchased tho so even if the ticket is delayed there should not be a problem .I can leave a paid up list on the gate I expect :agree:

As per the first post, any car/bike can run :)
only reno's right
two answers to this.
1. if you think that your gonna get all your mates in nova's and saxo's to turn up... yep only renaults.
2. if your asking for a general reason... as your cars bust and ule be in the passat then yeah thats cool ;)

James, get your exhaust sorted and get on that strip :P sure one of the guys can fix it on the day (even though I couldn't :()
If I manage to fix mine I will prob be slower than last year LOL
I have never really cared if I am the fastest etc just enjoy the event and banter - I will take defeat well if that 5800bhp rx7 kicks my arse :D oh and of course a good bench for mods carried out as RR only tell half the story........
There is always a car of similar times to have a play against so do not see it putting off newer members and nothing to say that they will not be quicker than the regulars :D
ALL about the fun

plus weather looks like its going to hold up fairly good too

Well still putting the car back together, fitted the oil circuit back up, fired it up for a little while, couldn't see any leaks, but need to run it for a while longer, didn't want to make the neighbours angry, running without an exhaust at 10pm :ashamed: getting the cracks welded up in the exhaust today, then put that back, sort out some wiring so it doesn't melt and then leave it running and fingers cross its all good.

I'm sorry to say I won't be running my car tomorrow, the engine developed a problem today while testing the new clutch.
Feck :(
What's happened mate?
pretty gutted to hear the above :(, watched a few vids of the car online and kinda looked forward to seeing it on the strip.
Pisser .
What's the problem ?
rod's come through the block, suspect that either the piston has let go, or something piston/rod/cap related has failed. this week has just been a series of nightmares, will be glad to see the back of it.
:( Onwards & upwards squire. Chin up :agree:

Sure you'll be cracking 10's later this year mate..
Ouch  thats got to be painful
Sorry to hear that mate, hope it all gets put back together soon and your back up that quarter mile strip aiming for that 10 sec time.

Im sure you'll be back bigger and better.
I'm sorry to say I won't be running my car tomorrow, the engine developed a problem today while testing the new clutch.
as JayZ allegedly once said.... "i got 99 problems and Renault caused most of them."
http://www.rtoc.org/files/index.php?path=Technical%20Files/Scoff/holed%20block/
wrong thread I know, sorry, but looks like the rod has maybe given up, piston sections that have come out look clean, not like it's melted or locked up. Or maybe the piston gave up. Either way both rod and piston are in many pieces. the remainder of the rod still spins on the crank OK, so bearings hadn't failed. Hoping the one-off crank will be re-usable.
That small end looks re-usable as well ...once you get it out ...
Feckin ell that's a proper mans blow-up .

scoff was it number 2 that let go?
come on mud, always nice to see your car.
adey, no.3.
I had some tea then nipped out and took the cyl head off to investigate. Head has survived, minor scuffs only. Turbo is OK too, no sign of crap working its way through manifold.
Pistons and chambers show no sign of detonation, cylinder bore is clean and still has it's hone, although block is cracked right the way from front to back where the rod has gone through at the bottom. Either the rod or the piston has let go, guess it was to be expected at some point.

unsure, log file corrupted because I shut the ignition off before pressing "stop". I'm not able to watch gauges really. I think about 6500rpm, but I don't think the issue is one of RPM.

I was looking forward to watching you do a few runs especially after all your effort on getting the clutch sorted in-time!
Do you think it was the fact that finally the engine was putting all it's power down through the new clutch that it forced a weak link in the chain somewhere??

Thats a real shame Scoff mate, sorry to see what happened to the engine. Was looking forward to seeing how it went with all the improvements you done.
Its not been all good down here too, Mini is refusing to play ball and not spark so had to throw in the towel with the old girl, me and Rich then decided to run his Radier so popped to Tommy's rollers to stretch its legs and check the fueling, once geting another 40bhp out if it from tweeking the carb and all running good the gaskets decideds to blow out on the last run before home time!:sad2: Looks like its had passed problems which have been covered up
Looks like we'll be car-less tomorrow too, never mind still be a good day

No thats ok mate i got a gasket here but all the pistons have evidence of detting on them, some are pitted up on the back edge quite bad. We think this is from a past problem as we had no evidence of detting on the rollers at all, plus liner number 2 has scores on it, either way its not worth slapping it back together best sort the whole lot out.
Its still up there, will be sorting its return at some point buts its all safe up there.

Yeah, from what i saw and was told on the day, and after talking to everyone at the campsite it seems that those are the winners.
oh hang on, what time did that dude on the bike run? could he be the fastest non renault?
4 wheels only
He can have a hat for having big cahhonies .
I don't need any more garb so if a non 5 runner steps up they can have one item from the shop for SECOND PLACE :p
I think the Escort was 125 ??
Backyard boys quickest on the day was 11.2 i think. I saw that escort do at least 3 runs under 10.5 in the morning, before they had probs with the rear axel.

You should have seen some of the drag bikes at the rwyb on saturday. One of them ran a 7.4@193mph. Insane, now those are some big cahhonies!!

I wanted to match or beat 13.5s, however I was happy with 13.8 as the best i managed to do on the first 10 runs or so was low 14's.

Awesome, i need some head bolts and the rubber half moons for the sump, oh and a set of liner seals.
Cant see them in the shop but just thought i would be cheeky, since it was at pod that i did the damage that means i need the above:rolleyes::)
I should win something for the fastest 172 on the day, seeing as I was in the only one there I think
