I fired mine using a spare sender unit. just plugged it in and it thought it was empty. My original tank sender was faulty so i was'nt getting the aux pump when low ;)
You can hot wire the sensor connection but i have no idea what resistance the aux relay is looking for before it operates. I'll go measure my other spare sender now!!

id like the fuel light to work, but will probably remove the aux tank all together using the campus fuel neck

Right, spare sender in a million bits now!!:)

Anyways going from the black wire 1. right side of connector
Orange wire 2. middle
Orange wire 3. next to the renault symbol on the sender plastic.

When the tank is empty you should get about 3 ohms on between 1 and 2 and 283 ohns between 1 and 3 / 2 and 3.

pins 1 and 3 are the fuel gauge. it reads 283 ohms empty and about 10 ohms when full, which makes sense.

Now to hot wire it??

Back it 5

To hot wire it.....

1. Start engine.
2. pull 3 pin connector on tank slighty foward so you can see pins coming out of sender.
3. check fuel gauge to see if you are still getting a reading.
4. bridge only pin 1 Black wire and pin 2 orange wire (middle) with a metalic object.
5 hold bridged pins for afew seconds until aux relay times out and.... click!!
6. low fuel light on dash will come on and aux pump will run :) until you either you remove bridge or it times out after 30 seconds ish.

Thats it.

My tanks is almost empty so i dont know what will happen with half and a full tank but i doubt it will make any difference :D

Hope this helps.

Yeah the bulbs gone lol

Adey you can be a donut at times :D So you gonna replace the bulb and sender?? you can properly repair the sender unit. It pulls apart and you need to clean the tracks and re-bent the connectors on the float to get a better contact, :agree:
