View Full Version : intercooler pipes
generally speaking what size are solid i/c pipes on a gtt. in MM please
minty
Best size is 50-53 mm depending where you get your pipes. Anything larger will make troubles around alternator. Also there is no need for bigger diameter since turbo outlet is around 50 and carb inlet also which makes fitting easier and cheaper.
B&Q Chromed Breakfast Bar Leg.
£15.99 a metre when I got it.
Job's a good 'un.
10 minutes with a hacksaw, you're there:agree:

i had 2 1/2" pipe work on my old 5, big pain in the arse round alternator, and broke the ht leads at the dizzycap. but it went from 50mm at the lobster, to 50mm at the turbo anyway(well around 50mm give or take)

:agree: No point in increasing boost circuit volume by fitting larger dia' pipes between turbo & plenum.

i'm sure handyandy had a chargecooler to inlet pipe that was too big or too small and it made his AFR's all over the shop, or maybe i'm getting confused, but i know that using same diameter throughout stopped it doing whatever it was doing
edit - what a useless post, sorry
