got 2 work thismorin and found a trail of oil up the drive leading 2 my car, popped the bonnet and found my dipstick had shot up.... oil all over the place

what the main causes of this?? could 1 of my breathers be blocked etc:!? 1st time its ever happened 2day

limped it home under 3k and it stayed in position.

Probably just loose dipstick if its running alright.

Either carefully crimp the top of the dipstick tube, bend the dipstick in a zig zag or fit tight o-rings to the plastic bit of dip stick. Usually sorts it :)

If the engine is running poor & the engine is breathing heavy causing it to pop out, expect worn rings, cracked ring landing etc.

The GTA always throws oil out the tube on hard right handers dumping oil on the manifold wrapping and :smokin: ....I've taken to plugging the tube up and only put the stick in to check level .

Back in the day with the A series mini engines the dipsticks were fairly loose so we used a spring to hold it down in place

i had this once firing up the strip at pod, had the dipstick poking out of the bonnets' vents
the master got the plyers out i believe and crushed the metal tube ends to keep the dipstick in place.

worked a treat :D
