View Full Version : Brake disc retaining nut stuck
One of the hex head retaing nuts on the disc is stuck and to make things worse I snapped a 'toughend' bit inside it. Any advise guys. Needs this crappy disc off!!
Cheers.
Tried mate, but the 'toughend' bit thats stuck in just balls up the dril bit. :(
Try to get a sharp point/blade to bite on the head then hammer it round to unscrew .
Cool! I should of thought of that! il give it a go tomorow now. :agree:

I wouldnt bother putting it back in mate, end of the day it cant go any where becasue of the wheel bolts hold it in place..
At work i always drill mine out, just go slow with a sharp drill bit or get a sharp pointy punch and knock it round... You should be able to drill it...
if you are not keeping the disc.... angle grind it out.
or smack the back of the disc with a large hammer until the head snaps off.

When i get stuck with these at work sometimes, usaully get a small chisel out, smack a nice dent in it, then with the dent and a chiesel hit it in the 'undo' direction and can normally get it moving
i always grind them off if they get stuck

Angle grind ftw! Went and bought an argos special one :cooter:
Did the job and new red dot discs fitted!
Cheers guys.
