Hi guys, I fitted a new drivers side driveshaft last night, looked exactly the same as my old one when placed next to it, fitted it with no probs, drove the 6 miles to work this morning and as I turned into the yard the inner joint came apart! Nothing looks obviously broken, the two halves have just seperated. My car is lowered quite alot but it should still be within its travel if you like. My old shaft has done thousands of miles like that. It was from GSf and they will replace it, just woundered if it has happen to anyone else and why it might have happened, cheers
Phil

sounds like it's too short, assemble without fitting the nut, and see how far you can push the CV in, around about 20mm you'll be having problems (from memory)

Cheers Andrew, thats all I can think it can be, arn't there a few slightly different lenghts? Not much to see when it was apart it has simply pulled out of the joint, I'll check the lenght when fitted with the next one, fingers crossed

the spider is'nt supposed to come out of the hub because the hub tabs should be peened over...should be in the manual somewhere!

I've modified mine, as i lowered my car alot, when i was taking left hand bends it used to knock. I took a grinder to the cup part, when the 3 bearings go in to.

Now its perfect with no knocking.
