View Full Version : Car restoration Quotes
Just had a seizure... I spoke to the guy on the phone, he said after seeing the email with all the photos i sent him, looking 5k for a full body restoration.
So i think that means evem under the car etc the lot, Got the main man in the place comming to have a look at the weekend.
I just really wanted all the rust fixed, a new windscreen surround welded on, and full respray inside and out.
When it comes to the under neath and the arches ile do that,
Whats the price ranges on this kinda work for a fairly decent job
Id pay 5k if it was the full body in side and out and under and arches etc.

When i wanted my white 5 fully done a local body shop who do mint jobs said anywhere between £1,500 if no major rust.... and upto £2,500 with sills, the odd job here and there etc...
I said i would supply new wings, doors, bonnett, boot & front bumper with all mounting brackets, Lights, windscreen etc etc...
The parts alone easily cost over £1k!
Remember to strip the car yourself off the bodykit, glass, interior carpet etc (althoughi would leave the roof lining on as its a pain in the arse to refit.
Have a word with DaveSBS, dont think he charges the earth for his work.
Id pay 5k if it was the full body in side and out and under and arches etc.
I know its not the same but for £5000 couldnt you buy like the best 5 out there?
restoration has diffrent meanings i find. My mum is currently having a triump stag restored, and i know as of current the bill in labour is 7k+ on going. however the level of restoration is amazing and the work is way above some others ive seen. A full spray inside and out though id imagine 1.5k approx then + ££ for any welding etc work. As said though stripping the car yourself and supplying parts should help a lot.
Car is stripped as per my restoration thread.
all parts will be provided, the guys comming up at the weekend, maybe he wil see sense whan he pops up. they seem really nice.
Also their work looks really good, the restore alpha's mainly, but the next car in is a RUF so they must be good.
I even got invited straight away to come down and view the work shop etc.
See what happens id say

was having a chat to some of the lads at work today and looking at your pics the car is fully stripped so the paintwork would be in the region of £400-£600 inside and out but ontop of that you have any welding like fitting new window surround etc.
i would definitely suggest supply all your own parts.
any parts that can be replaced easier than repaired i.e rotten, wings, doors, bonnet, tailgate as this will keep labour costs down
and maybe find someone who will weld for cheap, get them to do all your welding like window surround and anything else what needs doing and then take it back to the bodyshop for prep and paint.
if you want to prep it yourself let the bodyshop know and ask how they would like it done.
the amount of people who have prepped their own jobs for me to paint and i end up re-prepping it as it's not right.
hope this helps.
