Definately, the idea that these cars are fragile is bollocks, yeah they are 20 odd years old, yes that does usually mean they need a little more of a careful eye kept on them, but only because they've done 20yrs service, I used to use mine as a daily driver, only broke down three times in nearly 10 years, first was the n/s water hose from the inlet manifold to water pump, second was the fuel pump, unfortunately the third was the input shaft bearing sleave which the clutch release bearing slides on, but it still got me home.
I'd honestly like to see some of these **** built new cars see 20yrs worth of life.
Try it out. :)
Aslong as all is good on the car it will be fine. I was driving mine 95 miles round trip each day to uni and back. Only problems I come across was wear and tear like any old car or saying that even new cars have the problems I was getting, eg wheel bearing, brake pads, discs, ball joints etc.
:agree:
Trusty was used as my old work-horse motor for a few years, and didn't miss a beat, even when ragging it on track, and likewise these days, old whitey is being used to ferry me to/from work, shops, weekend outings & camping over at the lakes shananigans.
Even a new shmoo car will eventually feck up if you neglect it & run it into the ground.

cheers guys, think im gonna have a go then.
should be fine mate, use it an abuse it,
if she breaks fix her up.
:)
no worse than any other car if its looked after!!!! :agree:
Frequent servicing... well oil and filter changes.. possible the gearbox oil.
Maybe a new fuel filter, etc etc give it a good sunday service and clean, then use it as the daily driver, i stand by the fact cars have feelings.
Old Agnis (my red 5) only let me down once and that was the alternator bracket snapping off the block. I put it done to brittle bone desies.
Apart from that i drove round trip 25 miles a day on motorway/and country lanes
and i gave it death non stop...... treat it well it shall return tha favour ;)

used mine as such since 1991 including trips to track days sprints and hill climbs. Just be sensible with the boost for the school run and look after her with help from someone who knows the car as I have done with Ian Nixon.
