ok my starter stopped working the other day, it still spins but is not engaging with the flywheel. at thirst i thought it may be the solenoid but upon further investigation i found this lurking in my bell housing behind my flywheel at the bottom.
has it snapped off the starter or bell housing? it can't be off the block as it is aluminum and block is cast. and i don't think there is any way for anything to get into the bell housing is there?
would this be the reason my starter is not engaging with the flywheel?
well here it is...

i think i have it all out but i will have a good check.
thank god for that thought i might be needing new bell housing for a second there
would this stop the starter engaging with the flywheel?
