Afternoon.

I've done a few searches and cant find anything on this.
There is alot of play in my gear stick from left to right. Nothing forward and back though. No trouble at all in getting in gear but it's just loose. Is there a spring holding it or something? Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks for your time.

There is a spring that connects from the floor to the bottom of the gearstick to keep it tensioned. It probably wont fix the slogger though but will make it feel a bit better.

Ill bet the bush is worn in the gearstick housing, or the pin that goes into the box. My gtt has a lot of play at 150k.

There were some replica bushes on ebay a while back, Might be worth a look?

Also where the gear linkage rod bolts onto the box usually wears quite a lot. Carefully taking a couple of mm off the spacer to nip up the bar can make quite a difference.

Renault now supply a kit instead of just a new spring and clip. Works much better.

or you use the centralising spring off the volvo 480 boxes, that fits under the gearbox.
centralises the gearstick in the centre and not just off to one side.
