i have a timing strobe light, want to check my timing is ok but wanted to check whats the best way to go about it, i rember setting timming up before and used tipex, but couldnt rember if it had to go on the timing marks, or if i made a mark on the chain were it would meet the timing mark?

The timing is fixed on a GT turbo..

can it not be slightly adjusted on by turning the dizzy cap anti/clockwise

Nope, only with the TDC pick up on these cars can you adjust.

Nope, only with the TDC pick up on these cars can you adjust.

You can move the TDC sensor position using a add on bracket but normally is only done if you are running some setup thats required the timing to be different. Timing is fixed as explained above. You can check to see if the knock sensor is working with the strobe. Thats about it really. Do you think your timing is incorrect for any reason?

You can get an adjustable TDC sensor, which can advance/retard the timing, or there is a cheeky pmt mod which involves swapping a couple of tdc wires around (from memory) I'm sure someone on here can go into more detail. ;)

oh i see, like if you running silly boost and need to advance the timing or what have you

no just wanted to check, ok so how can i check the knock sensor as i got a day of and want some thing constructive to do

tipex the flywheel, tipex the marks on gearbox, with engine running! **** the block with a metalic device/hammer next to the knock sensor and the timing position will move because the AEI thinks the engine is knocking. Never tried it myself :D Somebody on here will have ;)

Its a metal cylinder screwed into the head near spark plug No3 with a black wire coming out of it. ( If its fitted that is! ) :)
