when i took my engine out and replaced the cam i didnt take note of where this little gear sat in relation to what positions the pistons were in.

can anyone tell me where it should be so i dont have problems with the dizzy when i come to fire her up. i do know that the slice in the gear for the dizzy is off centre so as mich info as poss would help.

its all in haynes manual.

with pistons 1 and 4 at TDC, push the gear into the hole with the larger part of the slitted area over to the right, and the slit at 8 and 2 o'clock position. as it meshes with the cam, the slit should rotate slightly so its close to 6 and 12 o'clock! - when you put the dizzy in and the rotor arm should face the radiator.
