Why exactly are you unbolting it, just to do the TDC sensor (not needed) or replacement turbo?

If its not been off before mate, lots of WD40 i think its a relatively easy job!
the oil seal has gone on the turbo, so need to send it to adam l.
and mayaswell replace the tdc while im at it as the others a bit bodged with masking tape and block connectors everywhere ;)
its been on since 2001m better get the good old WD40 out i guess
WHOOPY the turbo is off
but wtf is this a hose right at the bottom of the turbo was corraded and the slightist movment snappet it! could this be causing the smoke??
might be worth running the car for 30seconds to get the manifold hot-ish, to aid nut removal. then spray wd40 over all nuts!!!
see this hose on the pictur thats circlede, this was very corroded a barly touched it and it broke away, what is this hose for???
would it cause blue smoke on idle?
that'll be the oil return hose mate.
could it cause the smoke m8?
or is it the oil seal?
Sounds like a seal to me.
ok ill get it sent to adam ;)

Is that the oil return hose? Did the hose that came off go down the front of the box towards the sump?

I canny see no pictures!
if its corroded, i'd suspect it was the water jacket pipe (outlet) rather than oil return
the hose is connected to the very bottom of the turbo and seems to go to the bottom of the sump
ive added a pic of it on my profile ;)

Could be the cause of smoking, if the smoke was coming from the engine bay and not the exhaust?
;)posted a few pics of turbo on my profile now.

Speak to Adam L hes the man on here when it comes to turbos. Really depends on how much money you want to spend and if you are happy with the way the turbo works?
Yeah, give Adam a call tomorrow @ Turbo Developments on 02085 603927
The seller lied about it being a T28 too...
Has anyone had any work done by a company called Ivor searl in Cambridgeshire?
http://www.ivorsearle.co.uk/public/index.asp?cbofile=6&ht=0&sh=24&cp=7
as unfortunatly for me adam is very busy atm and wont be able to look at my turbo for a couple of weeks. it is my only car and need on the road asap, also i want it at its best for santa pod, and is cutting fine as theres more work i need doing after the cars running again.
ivor searl recon they can get the turbo back to me within 5 days. which sounds great, But are they any good???:cooter::cooter:

That's my 5 pence worth BTW :coffee:
He does but T.D are rushed off their feet at the moment and just don't have the time to do it before Pod. Could you get a donor turbo for now and send the damaged one off to Adam?
yes m8 ive spoke to adam l, and i would love for him to do the work on my turbo, but like i said he is very busy and he cant even get to look at it for 2 weeks
i need the car running asap as i want it in time for santa pod, once the car is running it then needs to go to the garage to have some more work done to it:smokin:
it just wont be ready in time

If it gets you out the **** its here dude, i wont butcher you ;)
It is worth replacing the 2 rubber sections of the oil return line if they are old and brittle on the outside. The rubber inside goes soft and closes up causing a restriction. This can cause oil to back up in the turbo and it to smoke. The rubber hoses are about £20 each from renault, a lot cheaper than a turbo rebuild ;)
getting some good help here :)
thanks all i will ring around see how it goes.
thanx again for the offer jrp, i may take you up on that as a last option but hopefully it wont come to that :agree:

the oil return hose was very britlle while i was removing the turbo it snapped away before i could even get chance to touch the hose clip, however i was getting alot of blue smoke from the exhast and was told, the broken hose would cause smoke from the bay but not from the exhast
