View Full Version : oil leak after being on boost
Oh the joys
My 5 has occurred an oil leak but only when after driving on heavy boost i.e when driving an car comes on boost then change gear or let off the car does not leak when its then parked up but if i stay on boost for a long time when the car is parked up its leaking oil im thinking it could be from a breather pipe or thinking worse as the oil is coming from the gearbox side of the engine
Can anybody help
Thanks

check all conditions of pipes...oil return from the bottom of the turbo as there prone to splitting......check connections into the rad make sure the oil feed in and out is tight apart from that i would give the engine a wipe down with some gunk etc get underneath the car (jacked up securely) get a mate to give it some revs and see if you can see any leaks/spray from where it might be coming from....
markey b - Theres no smoke on idle but there is a little on boost
tom t - Ive not had a proper look yet but the cars at work so i will check it all when i go in in the morning
IANMM - Ive left the car at work tonight so so im going to get it on the ramp an have a proper look at it i will also get me mate to sit in it while im under it
Been thinking today at work as to what it could be an we are thinking it could be the turbos t0ssed which wont be a bad thing jus means i will have to get a bigger turbo which would be good, if it is the turbo which would be best to go for t25/t28/t3
Ive got some silicone hoses coming bought a 15 piece kit along with a front mount intercooler

get a T3, and a book to read while the 1.4 tries to spool it :coffee:
i ws thinking it might be a bit big but thinking more along a t25 or t28 just looking into the best way of fitting either
If the turbo is knackered would this be any good

Ive found my oil leak but its not good its leaking from the core plug on the side of the block by the gearbox, so i think imgoing to be needing a new block :-(
