how do i find out if it works, also whats the price of one,

reasoni ask is because theres little braking effort on both rear but hand brake locks fine

i know this becasue the rear discs arnt shiny and have light pitting

or could i be looking at something diffrent?

There about £150 if you want another, not cheap.

I just bought a new one, think it was about £100.00 from Eurocar parts.

ok gave it a good hard braking from 70 to 30 over id say 300 meters and one side has started going shiny the other has 2 rings round, maybe buggered rear calipers?

but it passed a mot few months back!

Take the brakes and calipers apart, clean them up, maybe change the pads for a cheapy set. see what happens then. well thats what ive done before and it worked.

n1 jrp ill give that a crack tomorrow, i think a can of brake cleaner may be usefull. i think there low to, so... the piston may be at its furtest reach thus not making any braking effort

well if it making rings as well could be struggling to grab, so when it does it grabs on dirt... score the disks etc

not scored, just looks like it hasnt been workign for some time which made me think calipers, but handbrake works, then i thought of the compensater

If the rear discs are cleaning up then the compensator is working ok. The braking power is low on the rear as std so can take a canny few miles to clean the discs up.

Check the pistons move free in the rear calipers as they seize up easily, If they passed mot test they will be working as normal though.
