View Full Version : Latest National Day 2008 Information (18-09-08)

Miller
15-09-2008, 12:09
Just incase you have missed all the ND talk, this years National day will be held at Mallory Park in Leicestershire on Saturday 27th September.

This year it is effectively a three day event for club members with camping on Friday and Saturday night, National Day with track time on Saturday, then on Sunday there is an event organised by the British racing and sports car club www.brscc.co.uk (http://www.brscc.co.uk)

This is all the up to date information that I have available. This also includes the answers to all the things I was asked on the boards.

Car Boot Sale
After a few requests we are setting aside an area for a car boot sale, this will be an excellent opportunity for you to get rid of your unwanted parts then this is the time to do it. The area will be sign posted and there is no charge to for you to do this. To make it fair for sellers and so they can enjoy the full day, the car boot sale will be from 11:00-13:00.

Track Driver Information

Helmets are required but you CANNOT hire them on the day, this is the site that I got my crash helmet from at a very reasonable price. They are fully road legal with all the required safety stickers. Ghost bikes (http://www.ghostbikes.com/scp/HELMETS/Nitro-Full-Face-Helmets.html)
All Road tires are fine to use on Mallory circuit but if you use slicks a minimum of a half roll cage is required.
Noise limit on the day will be 98db, I am unsure of how strict they will be with this.
Track tickets are per person and cannot be shared with friends!
Please see the schedule for when you need to be there for your briefing and also when track time starts.

Track time is still available but time is running out to buy tickets in advanced.
Tickets sale CUT OFF is Wednesday 17th for the advance prices.

Show and Shine
We will be having show and shine and as usual for club members only, there will be a dedicated area to display your car. To be included in the show and shine competition all you have to do is park in this area. This year winners will have an additional prize, as well as a trophy if you are the successful winner of a category then you will be included in the 2009 RTOC calendar (available December 2008). This opportunity is an added incentive to get your car picture perfect.

Traders
Traders (general)
We have full use of all 14 (2.8m x 7m) garages in the pit area, so the club is offering traders an incentive package. The package will include entry tickets for their staff and the use of a garage.

Traders (Tuners)
Tuners we are giving them a slightly better package on the above offer. As they are tuners, they should be showing potential customers what their car can do on track. Therefore, we are giving them one track pass in addition to the entry passes and garage.

The only reason tuners are getting a track pass and not normal traders is Body shops, interior trimmers etc can show the quality of their work by looking at the car, they do not need to show the performance of their cars on track.

If you are a trader and are interested in one of the above packages then please email or call me.

Camping
For club members and their friends they can camp inside the circuit on the Friday and Saturday night. You must buy a weekend ticket to get your camping pass. Please remember your friends WILL also require a weekend camping ticket even if they are sharing your tent.
Entry to the campsite will be from 5pm till late on the Friday.
Camping tickets include entry to the British racing and sports car club www.brscc .co.uk (http://www.brscc.co.uk/) event on the Sunday. This event would be £12 on the gate but we are getting them at the advance price of £8, which is included in a camping weekend ticket.

Schedule for the day

7:00 = Gates open
8:15 = Track briefing’s start (for everyone)
9:00 = Track time begins (club members)
12:00 = 1 hour lunch break ontrack
12:05 = Show and shine judging starts
13:00 = Track re-opens (club members)
15:00 = Track closes for club members and opens for non-members
16:00 = AGM
17:00 = Track close

passengers can be signed on the day, they will be issued a different coloured wrist band to drivers.

will the wristband thing be like most other tracks where as a drivers wristband allows you to go as passanger in other cars?

I am not sure on that one but if the norm then possibly.

Probably best to ask in the morning, when you are getting your driver briefing.

Well that is all the advance tickets ready to go to the post office tomorrow, so you should see them on Monday possibly Saturday.:)

Just a small reminder about camping, EVERYBODY will will require a camping ticket. This includes friend and partners even if they are sharing a tent with you, this is not my rules it was a stipulation set out by Mallory.

If we did not do this, then we would not have been able to camp on the Saturday night. The extra £8 is to cover entry to the Sunday event and non of that money is going to the club.

OK.....
as far as spectating at Mallory goes its pretty good....

the pits will be open , over the bridge on the main straight and you can wander about...caution...cars will be moving in this area if you have children with you.....
from inside the pit area you can see the back straight, and upto the hairpin...

best spectator spot by far and best for pics, the hairpin....you can sit on the grass bank either side of the track, good for braking incidents, LOL, late turn ins and general tyre squealing antics...being very close to the track is what makes it so good...

fastest point on the circuit, back straight area, you can drive around to the rear and park on the grass banking....if theres going to be a big slide and general pants browning moment it will be here, as they exit the 100mph turn and accelerate down the back straight .....

DRIVERS.......

the back straight is very deceptive as far as speed goes....most cars will enter this at 70+......theres quite a nice right at the end of the straight so build up your confidence into this corner....

after the hairpin its a downhill left called devils elbow.....again , build up your speed into this slowly, it drifts you out onto the main straight to the right of the track....hit the rumble strip or worse and your looking at 1 of 2 barriers...literally..

the hairpin...great fun and is banked and lulls you in deeper every time....
if it goes wrong coming out the hairpin "hit the brakes"......if you hit the inside wall, its 3 feet of concrete and it ain't gonna move....LOL....
anyone with rear drive cars...caution as the outside of the hairpin is a very RAISED rumble strip....hit this sideways with your foot still hard on the gas...at best, shake your fillings out, at worst, rip out your suspension

BLOODY GOOD FUN THOUGH

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

Under 16’s free when accompanied by a paying adult. Not sure if thats 1 ticket 1 child though? If we go on Sunday as well, do we have to pay again if not camping?

all under 16 are free all weekend when with a paying adult, if you are not camping you will need to pay at the gate on sunday and as paul says it about £15.....so you would be better buying a camping ticket (extra £8) and not camping in your situation.

Chris happy with the 99 Ron ;)

Ive been told that the higher RON rating doesn't give an advantage over standard petrol with a carb. Does anyone know if this is true, cause I'm going on the track Sat and unsure what to put in ?:coffee:

the HIGHER the ron figure the less chance of pre detonation "pinking"...

we all know this kills a 5 engine so higher ron can be a good thing if your set up to run higher BHP

OK.....
as far as spectating at Mallory goes its pretty good....

the pits will be open , over the bridge on the main straight and you can wander about...caution...cars will be moving in this area if you have children with you.....
from inside the pit area you can see the back straight, and upto the hairpin...

best spectator spot by far and best for pics, the hairpin....you can sit on the grass bank either side of the track, good for braking incidents, LOL, late turn ins and general tyre squealing antics...being very close to the track is what makes it so good...

fastest point on the circuit, back straight area, you can drive around to the rear and park on the grass banking....if theres going to be a big slide and general pants browning moment it will be here, as they exit the 100mph turn and accelerate down the back straight .....
