just bought a cheap saxo with a private plate on it and a friend of
mine seems to be interested in the plate .
any ideas how i can transfer the plate to him or someone else ?
the other question is ,what happens to the saxo if the private plate goes .

The DVLA will assign the Saxo another reg number, all the details you need are on the DVLA website :)

You can transfer the plate to your mates car for about £80, or put it on retention for about £120, you'll need to check the figures from DVLA as Dawno notes above. Retention means its put on a transfer document for 12 months and any time during that period you can assign it to another car. if you take longer than 12 months DVLA will charge you £20 to £30 to keep it on retention for another 12 months. The retention document can be in your mates name which will give him entitlement to the pate. If its transfered straight to his car this also gives him ownership of the plate.

The Paxo will more than likely have its original plate assigned back to it, unless the plate on it is its plate from day one.
