Evening all,

As you are all aware I'm putting a volvo lump into my mk2 clio, been looking in the haynes manual at fuel pump and flow rates. :scared:

The engine that was in my clio was a e7j 1.4 8v - 80 litres/hour at 3.0 bar pressure..

The volvo turbo is - 120 litres/hour at 3.5 bar pressure

So it got me thinking that im gonna need a bigger fuel pump because as you can see my one aint man enough..

Noticed that the 1.4 16 v engine k4j has 130 litres/hour at 3.5 bar fuel pressure...

Would that pump do, looks like the flow rates are almost spot on and i would have thought it would be the same fit in the tank to, so no need to change pipes?

What you rekon guys..

I'd look at a pump that does whatever injectors you want to use at 5 bar (3 bar plus boost plus a bit of drop in the pipes.

130L/h would feed a set of 540cc injectors flat out

Im only using standard volvo turbo injectors, what ever size they are...

The 1.4 16 v clio fuel pump has 130 l/h flow rate at 3.5 bar

The volvo requires 120 l/h flow rate at 3.5 bar

The clio one is 10 l/h more, would this matter ??

You can use a monster pump and it will still only produce the level set by the fuel regulator. I am using a 044 bosch pump now and can produce a lot more than I am using, only downside of the real pumps :P is they are a bit noisy lol

I have a ph1 GTT (uprated over std pump) spare which I dropped when I did the vag conversion for sale if this is any use - cant remember the stats

Failing that the mk1 golf pump is a good upgrade (used this to run the vag motor and not that expensive from GSF ;))

Beyond those level of pumps you need to buy adaptors to fit into pump for your fuel lines

Thanks for that man, i was thinking of a up rated after market but then i gotta change lines...

The reason y i ask i because i want to keep the pump in the tank like they are from standard, this then keeps the lines as they are and the sender all the same, all i have to do then is plumb in my volvo lines and job done...

Not sure how i would run a external pump when mine is part of the sender ?

is your FPR in the tank, or on the engine? You'll need one one the engine.

Yeah the reg is on the engine mate, built into the fuel rail.. haynes say 3.5 bar of pressure from the pump, the 1.4 16v pump is exact that aswell as the same flow rate...:D

Mite even be better to up grade to a 172 fuel pump..
