ok srving my car yesterday it started playing silly buggers lost dump valve noise etc and wanted to stall, so pulled over to find my tubes to the aei had come off, sorted that out today with better tubes, but looking around in general i saw i bear wire, when i went to move it to take a closer look it sparked, it looks like the heat has burnt through it and its split, what is the wire?

it goes to something on the base of my carb, and to my anit perc fan wire, which has no use and is disconnected, where does it go on the other end? and what does it do?

but its intertwined with other wires so simply got it out the way but its jopined to the other wire that goes to base of carb and off down under the alternator, so whats my plan of attack, whats the sensor etc at base of carb and where does the other end go?

It'll join the main engine loom toward the offside headlight, the main anti perc loom is down there. Strip it + bin it. Fire hazard.

Hence why i always ran with a heat shield ;)

yeah got a gt tunining sheild but had only had it off while i was swapping parts etc, and ran it off to quickly adjust the actuator if needed, bummer but i'm sure i'll sort it out ok,

so the sebsor at the base of carb is also something to do with perc fan? so i can bin the whole wire run?

Gotta agree with the Andrew Cooke bible here, perc fans are pointless

I'll 3rd that. Took mine off last week and hasn't made any difference to starting the 5.

ok so is that sensor at the bottom of the carb the perc fan? can i take the whole wire back
