Had a trip over to bogg brothers this morning to set the carb and boost up.

Dave deals with the rolling road..so we put it on to see what it was up to, the 5 was running very lean and had a boost leak. http://www.performance-on-track.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif

We whipped the carb off to check the jet size, which was 1.5mm with a 1.2 air corrector. He drilled the jet to 1.6mm to be safe and put the 0.9 air corrector in to richen the mixuture up!

With the boost leak sorted we strapped it on the rollers and gave it a run,
Its ran 160bhp @ 16psi (ATW)

2nd run was @ 20psi ran upto 180bhp ATW then started to pull off the rollers, dave just laughed and said it had more left!

Over the moon!

If your saying that you have drilled the main jet to 1.6mm then there is something clearly wrong with it especially if it was running lean. the on boost fueling starts on the 1st then to 2nd stage enrichment jets and not the main.

holy batpoo, a 1.6main with a 0.9 corrector, have you also got a 1.25 in the 1st stage enrichment  that thing should be black smoking like a tractor puller

He checked it on idle and said it was running lean, said he didnt have to drill it but said it would harm it :crap:

On boost he said there was plenty of fuel as the pressure increased.?

No black smoke at all

1.6mm:eek:

I use std 1.2mm main jet ;)

As for idle mixture its controlled by the idle jet/mixture screw. You want it to be 1.5% c.o.

Remember guys, if its a 27.5mm choke then 1.5mm is common place. anything less than that can make things quite lean. 1.6mm even for 27.5mm though is a lot, it will be pretty rich off boost I bet. Maybe the 0.9ac on its own would have sufficed, and saved you some fuel ecconomy.

All important question here...

Did he actually have an AFR gauge connected to the car?
