Like the project, did you etch the whole body or is that just a funny colour primer?

scott25

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

yes all bin etched, the paint thats on is somthin called bar coat wich is a base layer wich goes on before primer, i do have a spare set of front arches but rest of original kit was smashed to bits

loving how that is going, whats the actual purpose of the bar, is it a coat to stop reactions within the paint ?

scott25
12-04-2009, 12:18
thanks it is comin on pretty well now, somthin like that, it doesnt let anythin below it through so the primer and colour has a fresh new surface or somthin like that, just cant wait for the colour to go on and get it back on the road :)

I didn't think you could run a bleed valve on the volvo lump as the boost was controlled via ecu ?

Looks good so far bud.. :agree:

scott25
08-05-2009, 19:47
i think the ecu has had a map of some sort cos it already had a valve on it and boost was off the gauge way past the limmit of 9 psi is it, and was running fine in the volvo with just abit of a grip issue lol

TURBO'D CLIO
09-05-2009, 18:56
Possibly had the rich mod ecu, very impressive mod chip if it has, taking it from a stardard 125 bhp to a staggering 160 bhp before you even touch filter, exhaust or boost.. 160 bhp at the wheels that is, so in a r5 and a bleed valve i reakon ur talking serious power from a 1.7 :agree:

Any othe mods planned for the engine mate ? If you need any help with wiring then give me a shout i found it very easy once i studyed the diagrams for like a week.. lol

scott25
09-05-2009, 20:20
to be honest ill be happy with it running anywere between 150 and 200bhp as long as its reliable so i was just goin for exhaust filter front mount and abit of boost, only issue with wiring at the min is were to mount all the box's and wich box's i could get rid of out of the volvo's loom, however im sure ill get stuck at some point so will give you a shout if thats ok lol :)

what brakes you going for??

J8TRO
09-03-2010, 22:28
Top work mate, well done for breaking the norm and going for a different colour. I like it.

Will look better when it's sat down on the coilovers and if it was mine i'd have to put darker wheels on it, but that's my opinion. Looks great

scott25
10-03-2010, 01:26
Not sure wot brakes or coilovers to go for yet but opinions welcome, as for wheels think its gonna be either team dynamics in black i think or some split rim style

Spooky
10-03-2010, 09:04
For coilovers, look into Gaz/Leda as we have club discount with them :D

just another quick update, had the car checked over today bin told its ready for mot and no reason for it to fail so booked in for sat mornin, first time in over 2 year and i can finally drive it on the road :yeah: cant wait, but does anyone know if i can tax the car with a day insurance cert as ive bin told different things ??

TNT Tricky Nicky
09-09-2010, 22:31
I was under the impression that you needed at least a month left on the policy to get tax.

I'd also check that the day insurance covers you to drive a car with no mot as when I wanted it the car had to be taxed and moted.

But either way I couldn't give a definate answer

scott25
11-09-2010, 17:31
well could not have gone better straight through mot with only lowered suspension and movment on seat frames as minors, had a few hour drivin it with only a few small issues and lots of people commentin, even though its not finnished yet it finnally feels like av got somwere with it, love it :)

ya thanks all, mannaged to have a couple of runs out with a few teethin probs that have shown there heads,
one is the boost keeps spiking past a bar and causing it to shut down ( bin told to get de-restricted box ),
the end cap on gearbox has started to weap a bit, and am looky to get 90 mile from a full tank so think it needs mappin/settin up,
but apart from that im lovin the drive and attention it gets
