View Full Version : plugs sooting up
As per my missfire post, it turns out my plugs were so badly sooted up that it resulted to a constant missfire. Now my car is running standard carb, standard boost, and mixture on idle is to to 2.0 c/o. Just wondering what the reasoning can be as its doing it around once a month. Its more for curiosity than anything.

Try looking at this NGK technical page might shed some light on it :

Are they sooting up with fuel or oil?
Id knock the c.o down to 1.5 myself. Is the main jet standard size?
at 1.5 the car didnt really want to idle very well. All jets are as standard

if ur starting from cold on choke and then switching off without running up or heating up it'll eventually soot up!make sure theres no petrol dripping from the aux.venturi when she's idling!

nah rarely does it have such a short run that it stays on choke. How do i check that bud.
