where does the standard boost gauge in the dash plumb into?? it doesn't read anything even when boosting, but there are no loose ends that i can see coming from the manifold/ carb area???

On the carb top drivers side you have an outlet which a t-piece with 2 outlet on it, the boost guage is one of those vacum pipes coming off of it, it goes down to the bulkhead and goes onto the 90deg fitting which is next to the speedo wiring.

Hope that helps mate

can't work out how it's stopped working all of a sudden. it looks like no pipe was attached at all as there are no pipes missing from the or open anywhere near the carb?? very strange! :scared:

Check the 90 degree bend connector at the bulkhead that Mark mentioned.

If it was working and then it stop it must be/have been attached there. The pipework could be split or come off the back of the guages also.

this is what i can't get my head around. the pipe(at the bulk head) was open ended, so it wasn't attached to anything at all. but there is also nothing for it to attach to, if that makes sense??

its got me stumped lol

Ok have a look at the carb top for me, on the drivers side you have an outlet, there should be a pipe with a twin t-piece on it is that there on yours mate?

Mike GTT

its been t'd into another pipe coming off the carb top which then goes to the second stage fueling part of the carb.

does that make sense??

Markey Mark (BD)

Yeah that makes sense mate, the twin t-piece has to pipe that go off to the standard bost guage and the carb vacum port for the acc pump jet.

If your standard boost guage pipe isn't connected there it should be and also on the 90deg fitting in the bulkhead.

i honestly can't find anywhere where it should connect to.
took it out for a spin tonight, and i've defo got something leaking into the car, got a pounding headache lol

could it connect in anywhere else?? :crap:

You got a pic of that side of the engine bay, if i see it i'll be able to tell you whats happened to the pipework.

The smell and leaking sound isn't good, i'd want to get it fixed soon.

Hmmm, where does that pipe go from the carb top in that picture, as everyone has said that doesn't look right there.

Get a more detailed pic and one of the other side too.

Where's the carb-top pipe (left hand one of the two smaller pipes in this picture) going to?

You should really have a jubilee clip/cable tie around whatever it is that's occluding the pipe on the right hand side, or loop it back onto the carb-top.

Mike GTT

sorted.

that pipe splits joins onto a black pipe which was hanging into down the back of the engine. i have now looped it in. gauges in the car are working correctly and should be the end of my headaches lol

don't i feel stupid right now :dearme:

Not so sure of that headache being over with yet...

Where does that black hose go that you're referring to?

Shouldn't that one be free to air???

Mart

If it's the one coming off the enrichment block of the carb, yep.

Hence the 'headache not over yet' comment...

it was attached to the pipe which goes to the standard gauge on the dash. so i've cut it back and looped it into the carb top.

Markey Mark (BD)
05-04-2009, 20:13
That pipework doesn't look right at all mate in the pic, the standard boost guage is tapped into the AEI vacumm pipe and the carb top looks like its tapped into it also:eek:

Have you a pic of how you done it now, bit confusing what you have done mate. If its similar to how it is now it will need changing mate.

Mike GTT
05-04-2009, 20:40
the standard boost gauge isn't tapped into anything now mate. instead i've run the pipe from my seperate boost pipe and tapped it into the AEI line.
