got my carb off yesturday ready 4 a clean and service and noticed 3 nuts have come off the manifold on the turbo side!!! could this partly be the reason im having trouble goin above 10psi on boost?? :scared:

the nuts usually do fall off!! if your getting a popping through the exhaust on overrun then the gaskit is leaking a bit...as to weather its affecting your pref.on boost then it decides on how loose the manifold is??

i`ll get some new nuts on it asap!!! yeah 2b honest over the last couple of wks high up the revs she has been poppin abit...

if it's been loose you'd be as well to swap the gasket, chances are it's damaged.

cool! might aswell change that then while ive got the carb etc off, just ordered some heat wrap+ties also...... cheers :agree:

yeah i def put them on when i changed the engine :scratch: :laugh::laugh: vibration must have spun them off over time.....

is it easy to swap on the car?

I struggled real bad doing it in the car.
My exhaust manifold had extra metel though compared to other ones I've seen.

the later type manifold is webbed making the inlet hard to remove!!

anyone got any tips for changing the manifold gasket?? what needs2 come off etc: ordered 1 a few days ago.... its poppin like a ******* :cry: yet another job for the wknd :p ohh well! keeps me out of trouble.:rolleyes: :laugh:

Get as much as you can out of the way mate.
Carb, turbo, drop the down pipe, any coolant pipes and that :agree:

We have 4 full gasket sets in Shop stock that I haven't listed :o
No head gasket ,but all others ,manifold rocker etc ....
Meillor kit 016236P
I can do them shipped for £20
Or put a OE head gasket in with it for £32.50 .
I only have 3 oe head gaskets left though .

Its not really that bad Blick. My manifold has the extra webbing which made it an akward job, and it kept snowing, lots. Otherwise it'll be fairly easy. If you're doing the head gasket anytime soon it'll be even easier :laugh:

Oh, and mine left loads of the old gasket on the face of the head. I had to block the ports up and get a wire wheel and WD40 on the case. If you do this WATCH YOUR FINGERS!!! It hurts :sad2:

cheers for that scratcher!!! :agree: ive gotta get it done.... sounds like a bad boy corsa merit with a 5" peco back box when you come off throttle. :laugh:
