Stripped down ,cleaned and rebuilt my carb, using new gaskets, only thing is I could do with a bit of advice on setting up the mixture.Following the haynes manual,I tried adjusting the mixture screw ,but when richening the mixture,I could keep turning the screw without any change in engine note:crap: I'm gona change the m/screw,and retry.
Is it worth getting a gas anyliser when adjusting the mixture? or is doing it by ear ok? If so any one got any tips?:)
Cheers.

I bet the end point of the mixture screw has snapped off in the carb base, very common

I'v got my carb off ,took the mixture screw out,and it looks like new, with the end intact, will change it anyway;).When removing the old screw, thought I'd count the number of turns in ,to be able to set the new one,but after about 4 turns ,it suddenly got much looser as if it had come of the thread!anyone got any idea what the over fuelling could be down to?also where should the m/screw be set (i.e number of turns in or out)
Big thanks:):)

I'm just doing the 5mm drill bit test ,to adjust the t/pump,bit confused, with the throttle open,do you then rest the drill bit against the edge of the venturi ,and let the butterfly close on to it,and then adjust the t/pump,so that it's fully pushed in?
sorry for asking again:ashamed:

ive re built my carb. and ive got a couple of questions to. would really like some more info on the 4-5mm drill bit tip as well just to clarify what to do. and which end of the accelerator pump needs to be fully in.

and the other thing the gasket between the main carb body and the throttle part doesnt seem to line up 100% with one of the holes not sure if this will be a big prob?
and if so how would you recommend i sort it

cheers and any help would be much appreciated. want to get the car running 2moz as ive been waiting to weeks for a jet from k-tec gagging to rag it:p
