Oil Pressure Gauge

On start up oil pressure gauge slowly rises up to 6 then when engine starts it moves between 1 and 2, is this cause for concern.

when you first turn the car on, the oil pressure gauge reads the oil depth.
when the car actually starts, then it reads pressure.
1-2 at idle when cold isnt that good. - but the standard gauges are well known to be rubbish!- it could be that rather than a dodgy engine.

If you are worried, get an after market gauge :)
