Keep it simple, a stock bottom end with the right turbo, charge cooling and exhaust can make 180-190bhp

my bottom end is standard and made 181 at the fly, id say keep it standard, get a bigger turbo, larger downpipe/elbow, alloy intercooler, lightened flywheel and heavy duty clutch, phase 1 fuel pump, and carb set up to match

havent looked at your profile, im going on from a standard car

erm still counting. the expensive parts are the standalone ecu and the fabrication of the manifold unless you can do this yourself.

My old white 5 was pretty sweet, standard engine, T28 & FMIC as fueling set up for 18psi... 176bhp with 170lb torque... ran sweet as!!

Where as my old grey 5 had 285 cam, head work, low comp, lightened & balanced crank/fly & clutch etc... cost a fortune... not worth the £'s for the gains tbh...

id still say go for a light flywheel, they aint that expensive(i have one here for £50) but you will still need a stronger clutch to cope with more power and torque

again i havent looked at your profile, going on standard car

Std crank, L B flywheel, standard liners and pistons, std head and ports and manifolds, standard venturi, Uprated cam and springs, pulley, t28, fmic.... got me 114mph traps and with gas 120mph (25hp grain)....

All you need for a decent engine is a decent set up and correct balance of tuning parts....

ive noticed most folks are going with the t28's , now ive gone in on the group buy for the stainless downpipe & elbow and will be planning on fitting a t25. Can as much power be had from these . ?

24-03-2009, 14:22
t28 for ultimate power...t25 for town drivability...

ah hmm. Maybe the downpipe with flange for T2/t25 was a bad idea. Ah well ordered it now, sure ill make do with a T25.
