Just wondering how much welding you lot have had on your cars, mine already has welded bumper brackets, but upon removing my rear arches i saw lots of nasty repair/filler work. Im a bit of a perfectist so im going to replace the drivers side rear 1/4, both doors and possibly the passenger arch once i have found a replacment. For now though i plan to just get hold of the panels needed. :agree:

So cumon how rotton do R5s come, and to what extent will you repair them.

I guess I'm lucky so far the only welding I've done is extra's ..although I've got a lot of bubbling appearing around the windscreen although I'll get that done before it's on the road!

seriousley common to rot around arches where the body kit is water gets trapped and has alot of fun eating away at your panels.

again around the windscreen is very common best way to check is get a hose on the rubber and flick the rubber you will see what its like then bits of rust will flick out as well as the rear window.

Front and rear bumper side mounts, rear inner wheel arch, front of sill corner. One sill has got a metal plate pop riveted on :sad2: lucky my renault 5s haven't gone round the windscreen though, wouldn't like that job.

i had new scuttle and sills, rear bumper mounts and floorpan welded on mine during my respray. also had new doors boot and front wings. worth it tho as its now 100% rot free

yea thats the way i see it, might even buy myself a small welder as its only thing steel and have a shot myself, will throw 2 new full sills on , and coat in wax oil etc for the sake of £80

Neither of my gtt's have ever been welded. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, or a bad thing :scared:

yeah, the only welding on mine is the plates for the cage.

My ph1 so far from what ive stripped and seen is weld free... :) only welding happening for me is for my intercooler mounting...:p

ive done my outer sills. some of my inner sill. am now working on my front end.. also whilst changing my rear door cards have noticed under the rear window rubber some rot... little bugger.

o well myt aswell get it all done.

my old F plate campus had no rot, my newer G plate GTT was full of scabs..

you either get a mint one that lasts or a rot box
