What with the stupid clips

What is it with the stupid clips renault use on the front and rear bumper, the clips i speak about are the side ones on the bumpers that you bolt into. I have nothing but ball ache with them, and right now my back bumper is held on using 4 cable ties. And sits so low its sat on the tyre. Do most folks do away with these clips and stick a bolt through , or am i just crap with the idea.

what exactly is the problem with your bumper brackets? are you sure its the brackets and not the bumper mounts that have rotten away?

Hey , sorry yea the bumper mounts have at some point rotted away, so the previous owner has welded 2x triangle sections of metal in there. Alll good you may think but no, they welded them to small, and rather than make them a bit bigger they put a massive washer onto the bolt, that when done up , loosely clamped onto the bumper mount and held it up.

Needless to say on saturday when i hit my torsion bar with a hammer the rear bumper dropped of with a all mighty bang.

Anyway my plan is to get my welder to put these mounts on propelly , and then drill the hole in the "correct" place.

Just a question , what size bolt is designed to be used when bolting up the bumper and into the clips.

i had to have both my front and rear brackets re-welded.
then i chnaged the plastic bumper brackets as well just to get a better fit.
Fookin front bumper still doesnt hang right on the passangers side.
but i think that has to do with my intercooler pipes in the way of the spot lights a little.

I thought they didnt have a cut on and simply just had a bolt , whereas the clip acts as a nut so to speak.
