I have some,I got them for modding Dini engines but have learned that its the GT turbo boys that make better use of them:confused:

If this is so can I be pointed in the right direction?

They're far too small, too much work in modifying them to fit aswell.

I think they are smaller than a standard T2 if my memory serves me right:)

I dont doubt what you say, however the feedback that Ive had is pretty much 50/50.They are interesting little units.

Howabout this then, small enough to fit 2 maybe? Hmmmmm

They're a 120hp (at a push) rated blower. Waste of time going through the aggro of getting one to fit.

The Garrett website rates them at 175bhp in standard form and it is fitted to the BMW330 diseasel

Don't they get fecked quite quickly by heat as well? Not what you'd want on a GT engine:coffee:

that 1100hp alfa looks fun...

I'm guessing that some of those cars use 2 turbos

I think we'd need to know the sizes of the wheels in that turbo, from what I can see there are 13 possible compressor wheels, and 3 possible turbines. Some are smaller than the standard 5 turbo, and some are a bit bigger.

Std GTT T2 turbo

compressor 48mm exducer, 33.95mm inducer, 50 trim
Turbine 47mm inducer, 35.25mm exducer, 56 trim

You can pretty much tell compressor flow by the inducer diameter, ie 33.95mm

For the GT1749V

compressor 49mm exducer, inducer between 32.9mm and 38mm
turbine 43mm inducer, 35.5 to 36.6 exducer

To put that in context, a T25 with a 60 trim compressor will have a 42mm inducer.

more info needed...

You're having a laugh, the 3.0l use the GT22. Give me the part number and i'll know exactly what unit it is.

Get a GT2559 off the Espace/Velsatis.

60mm compressor wheel, T3 sized cover, 54mm turbine wheel.

Yep, and I think that one on ebay is the one I first owned.

Bearing housing shot would have helped jog my memory. They've got a Toyota style core, oil feed from the bottom (which is a twin feed pipe, hard to explain) and a drain right next to it. A massive pain in the arse...

Well if you can get the adaptor from a car that used it, no hardship having two braided hoses connected to it for your drain and feed.

I guess not, you've got to find the adapter to start with. I've chucked quite a few away aswell:D

Apart from that, you need to precisely drill new positioning holes for the vnt, modify the manifold, modify the water lines, modify the elbow, and find a blanking plate for the ecu plug on the top of the actuator. They also run about 18psi stock.

Adam L

I just remembered, the actuator would sit practicaly on the manifold with that turbo, impossible to rectify, so not suitable.

DaveAVT
12-09-2008, 23:47
True, but you would have hell of a spec standard VNT.

Its basically a T28 spec turbo innit, with VNT. Even the ex housing fully opened is 0.64 AR IIRC..

Could you not lengthen the rod and remote bracket it up so the case of the actuator clears it?

It's hella big, I'd opt for a different bearing housing though, just to have the actuator in a safer position.

Yes, but how far above the manifold do you want the actuator to sit? Heat rises:crap:

Wrap it.

Or if poss use a twin port actuator, flip it 180 and use it as a puller instead of a pusher.

Adam L

There's a wall on the bearing housing, i'm not sure if the actuator arm would clear it. Does the wrap not absorb the heat too?

If you are unable to view it,it maybe this new ebay system that prevents you from looking at foreighn listings.Im in France and so is the listing which is why I can look at it.Its a stupid rule, the seller now has to pay a fee to become visible to overseas bidders.
