I spend money on my pride and joy....drive down the road, what happens?

A car doesn't indicate that he is going round the roundabout (on the wrong side aswel), with me coming in the opposite direction, i lock up, i spin, i hit the kerb, front bumper off, right wheel tracking fooked...and thats it I think. Can count myself lucky, but don't know what underlying damage there might be to that right wheel.

To drive straight I have to turn the steering wheel to the right a bit about 45 degrees, but there isn't any wobbling or anything so any ideas? I know I will need a new front bumper (needed that anyway) and the wheel sorted?!

Least i'm ok but a bit miffed. Guy drove off as wel, watching me spin into the kerb

its possible you've bent the subframe and/or suspension leg - track rod doesn't often bend!

get under the car, look at the underside of the subframe where the wishbone bolts up, it should be flat. If it's creased then it's bent. it will also show as the wheel sitting either more forward or more backward in the wheel arch compared to the other side.

Ok thanks, I will look at it tommorrow. Glad I could drive home though and not wait for the RAC. Such is life eh.

Yep - The guy I bought my old car off had hit a kerb as well, and it had just bent the subframe. Pretty easy job. Let me know if you need one - I have one on a GTT I'm breaking :)

I blame the Driving instructors who teach these people to drive like tossers.... :sad2::D

It's just laziness...all he had to do was indicate, be in the right lane and this wouldn't have happened! grrr  Just waiting for the Garage across the road to open so I can get the car up on the ramp and see what the damage is. Thanks for the offer BriC, I will more than likely be getting back to you soon

I blame the teaching system, they teach to pass the exam rather than actually learn to drive properly. A bit like any test in this country.

:agree: yeh i teach my pupils to drive not to pass there test - They can do that anyway if they drive correctly...

You would be amazed at what the acceptable driving is for passing the test, its a f*Cking joke, but hey ho.

The Examiner's have 40mins to say yes or no about whether or not you can drive legally on your own for the rest of your life... People should be re-tested every 4 year's... would make people correct bad habbits.

I found it strange how driving behaviour can change depend on where you go. When I first moved down here I noticed that Bournemouth drivers are generally more relaxed (Except Beardo) and that they rarely indicate going round a roundabout, only when they're coming off the roundabout.

Eyes in your a$$hole... always helps.

sphinX
06-03-2009, 11:24
I'm usually more aware than I was anyway, but locking up can't be helped when the car is already starting to spin. All happened to quickly for me to try and correct it. Hopefully it won't be too much to fix

Tiny Tim

I just dont bother taking chances. Now that I drive something thats longer than the starship Enterprise, the nose of the car's on the other side of the roundabout by the time the rear's cleared where I pulled out from :ashamed:

No i didn't he drove off.

Got the car up on the ramp this morning, i've definately bent the suspension leg. The wishbone, subframe looks fine. So I will change the suspension leg and go on from there. How much are new front bumpers from Renault these days?

phase i 16 v turbo, do you have a silver front bumper at all? p.m me
