In laymans terms, can someone explain how you'd change the colour of an object in a picture using Photoshop please.

For example, changing the colour of the wheels on a given picture of a car.

I'm sure I've seen a way where you highlight the object as such, then can simply change the colour by choosing thus so from the palette...or maybe it's not that simple :D

Cheers.

PS, I have Photoshop version 7 if that makes any difference.

- use "Poligonal Laso Tool" to select desired object
- go to image - adjustments - hue/saturation
- move bars in any direction until you find desired color/shade
- you can also go to image - adjustments - brightness/contrast to make selected area bit darker

That seems to work, cheers, but what happens if I want to use a colour that's 'stored' in the eyedropper tool?

How do I 'apply' that colour to the object?

you can fill the whole area by going to either image or edit in the top toolber or what i sometimes do is...when the part you want to colour is selected( has jagged line round it) select the brush tool and use that to colour it in...its quite good as u can adjust the opacity of the brush to suit

I don't want to fill though. I want to change an alloy colour from a given colour to the colour in the 'eyedropper', in a similar (easy) way that Jure mentioned.

This one isn't hard either...

- use "Poligonal Laso Tool" to select desired object
- go to image - adjustments - curves
- in "curves" window choose "options"
- in "options" window click on the (white in this case) highlights box
- you can use "Eyedropper Tool" and pick any color from same image or another one opened in PS
- close all three windows and when PS asks "Save the new target color as default?" click "No" and that would be it

Jure, can you use the eyedropper tool to select a colour from another picture opened up in PS? I would like to change the colour of something in one picture using the colours from another picture?

Mart. After such good advice you should post up the before and after pics of what it is you're messing with so we can see what's going on :)

Ahh, ye olde blue jumper, which I no longer own... :D ;)

This thread/the PS thing was when I was thinking of changing the colour of my Evo's alloys, not old whitey's o.e Speedlines.
