On Wednesday this week i went to Essex and purchased my 1st Cup car,

That will happen when i respray it all, Maybe replace the hose's with some nice black hose's. I am looking for a standard uncut boost hose to..... i am praying to Jesus! ;)

Like I said in my sales post lots of stuff here....like an un-cut phase 2 boost hose, standard telephone hose with alloy blank, standard airbox with K+N filter.........list is endless........I've chucked loads of standard stuff in the bin recently too........no-one came and got it........:(

Nah mate, Billy & I looked into them a good while back. Sure, there are scores of 5's out there with the Coupe badge, but it's not in the same style/font as the UK Coupe/Cup cars badge.

Right peeps,

I need a few ideas....

I am going to paint the car myself, i am thinking some thing like ford diamond white or Renault Glacier white...

But any other ideas? Has to be easy to paint & to touch up for when i have a brush the barrier or something...

Kawazaki green (again, done to death but a MAJOR winner).

Well over the last week or some i started work on my Spare cup wheels,

Sanded them down by hand to remove some old paint, rust etc... then gave it a coating in Rust remover...

Rubbed them down again and primed them..

Then i rubbed them down again and painted with a layer or 2 of silver alloy paint..

Just an update,

Not much happening on the car front, its starts, runs and stops so nothing really to do atm...

Judging by the weather of late were going to have a warm May & June and have plenty of light in the evenings etc, so today i have ordered...

1x 50l Air compressor + Accessories
2x Different types of Spray Guns
1x Full Renault Glacier White Paint Kit
1x 5l Body Underseal
1x DA Sander With all sorts of Sander fittings
1x Compound Sander with all sorts of Mop Heads
1x Body Panel Kit
1x 6m x 3m Party Gazebo
2x Double spot lights
1x Genuine Renault Clear Front Windscreen
Some Safety Equipment like Mask's, filters, Clothing, Glove's etc etc

Time to get cracking then when all this turns up next week...

Anybody Want to help remove my Engine & Gearbox let me know. :)

I'm not sure a 50 l compressor will be big enuf mate, we have a 200 ltr at work and that struggles to run a da flat out, also with a small tank you will get paint fade as you spray, the finish on the car will be orange peel style...

My mate had a clever idea of buying a busted 250 ltr compressor and just used it as a tank, so his 50 l was puping flat out but kept the big tank topped up... Might be a idea for you..

Dont get me wrong or anything i know the 50litre isn't ideal for a mint paint job but tbh its only a cup car and for track use only, so not out for looking mint or anything just cleaner...

I have my bids on a very old 250litre air compressor atm... if i get that cheap then jobs a good un, the 50ltr will do for odds and sods.

The size of the pressure vessel is not the main part you want to look at where compressors are concerned. The cfm is far more important, and whether or not it has a iron or alloy cylinder, it will last a great deal longer with an iron cylinder.We used to have a hydravane with a 50 litre tank and that would run two sanders all day long:)

I did some repair work to the rear quarter, brought a few cans of Renault Glacier white from HalFRAUDS!!

When it was dry it had a green tint to it, so i binned that and thought sod it, til i have time for a full respray over the winter i will just gloss black the rear quarter... (tempted to just do the whole car over the weekend..

Mainly just to stop rust starting/spreading etc... will tidy it up tomorrow, a few runs and alot of overspray but hey ho...

It will do for when i am at pod...

may sound silly mate, but for the sake of £75 or so for 5 litres of a direct gloss 2pac paint including hardner why not buy some, a small compressor and a gun and have a spray , it may turn out mint , it may not but either way its going to turn out better than rattle can. being a direct gloss theres no need for laquer.. go on go 4 it

Already sorted that... should be here by morning...

I had brought a compressor, but took it back for a refund as i just couldnt be arsed...

But not i have borrowed a compressor and purchased some paint... will update.

masking tape
All rear windows

The set about fitting perspex window's
Side windows were not a problem
Rear window was a b*tch at first but easy once you get used to it

Had time to wash the car, fire her up (first time) :)

Ready for POD next week if i can be bothered to trailer it there....

I have re-charged the battery, packed it for ND- Spare wheels & tyres, tents, sleeping bags etc...

Basically as you see it in this thread...

A decent paint job will make this car a top cup car, the bodywork is in very good conditon considering its a cup car.

Also has a new front windscreen fitted at ND

Well after a full year of ownership, the cup car is going this weekend :(:).

Its been a good year and had a good outing at ND:D.

I hope the new owner enjoys the car & has alot of fun in it.

Just thought for once i would get involved in this section, some may or may not of known but i now own this car and in the next month im going to try and restore it back to some of its past former "cup" glory, so watch this space, the car seems a very good base to start with and seems to run nice etc , just needs a few things here and there, ie , engine parts , paint , decals etc etc, so if anyone has any ideas etc , chip in..:), matty.

ps, just to add , i plan to use the car for hillclimbs, when i get off my arse nad get some sorted...{sorry james..george..:laugh:}

Thanks for all the comments guys, k-tec sticker still lurks under lots of paint...:laugh:, the crappy camera i have doesnt do the sticker kit justice etc but ya get the idea.
Gary wants to sell the stickers as a kit on here and as individual stickers to anyone whomb thinks they may want a cup replica or just fancy some on their track beastie, i will find out pricies from him and put a link up to his e bay shop etc, he tells me you can pay via pay pal etc.
he has also done an exact copy of the cup sun visor, just at the time it was too cold to fit so its in the boot at the mo...:laugh: waiting to go on!!!..:).

I also mentioned to gary that we have all been talking about getting cheaper exact replica side stickers..he tells me if he gets his hands on / borrows / scans an original set , he can get them near to exact...could be an idea...:scratch:.

I have done a bit to the engine as well etc , ill add picks of that too , when i can be arsed to upload more...my pc is slower than i am....:laugh:, ta for looking..:)

in answer to matts question , gary will do pretty much anything people ask...with stickers that is....:laugh::D

Al` thats no problem , he will be selling the kit or the stickers as individuals, ill sort a price from him asap, as for the paint, cost just short of £300..:), a friends job, not bad for the dosh...it wont win show an shine but its better than it was...;)

Nah, didn't have the side exit from you.
To a certain extent I only needed to copy it to fit a williams down pipe, and a silencer where the cat goes. (for my Clio race car project, can't have Oli and Dave have all the fun in TTRS now can I?).

Clio cup car eh??? You might have to get some pics emailed over to me or stuck in the projects pages.

ah i see. They where very simple as you can imagine. its just getting the right flange I suppose.

The 16v cup car is an original shell, but its bent :laugh: Slight crease in the roof, and front leg. Only non-sunroof is a williams shell... So will go down that route eventually.

Have you seen the silver pink (ex fish) clio 16v cup car in the victor Meldrew races? He was racing in Ollies last fateful race

right, its been a while....:laugh:, we {me and al`} are finally getting the coupe on the ramp for a full day this week on weds...:D, its only been allmost a year...:eek:, thanks to my daughter.:laugh: , got all the paper work in the system with regards the legal side of hillclimbs and sprints, so all being well on weds , we should have the black coupe ready to pass scrutunering etc and hopefully manage some ok times this season...:), ill put some pics up soon and keep all updated with progress...man ive missed thrashing a 5 at an event....:smokin:

Matt, the one's off of Col were the bonnet decal. The one Sam posted above is a door decal - I saw it when I was down Sam's place a while back.

If your man can scan that, I'll have a couple, as the door ones are the only ones on my car that aren't the proper size, and it's bugging me :mad:

Can you get a sunstrip done as well? I've needed one since I replaced my windscreen.

Right ...after a very long day witha favour from a friend with a ramp, we got loads done on the car...:), had to totally rewire {properly} all the oe rad fan wire system...now comes in a treat and spot on too and look so neat is ace!!!, we plumbed up a new lifeline fire exstinguisher system!, also we hooked up the new harnesses and just need a few clicps to complete!!!!, we had a look and fettled with the carb...it now idles fairly nice...:), did a fair few more things , before ragging it up and down a farm track...watched by the farmers...:laugh::wasntme:, then we disscoverd we had no brakes....:eek:, so thats the next job..look out hillclimbs it wont be long! ill put some pics up soon!!!:D, THANKS AL`!

love the theme tune briggs....reem as kris m would say, may take it to national day if im satisfied with it....its just the rowan needs an outing too....:)

i liked it chris when it was white , blue and black....:laugh:, just a few things to tidy up , get serviced etc , then hopefully i can make the last hillclimbs in late july/august.., then ill probally rebuild the boris engine and drop all of that in it.......boooooooost.:wasntme:
