I was thinking the other day about what rhymed with the word pizza. Don't ask why. Anyway, I remember as a kid that there was a car called the Piazza. Didn't take me long to work out that it was an Isuzu. There's still an owners club for the Turbo version apparently.

I've not googled/wiki'd the thing as yet to get specs etc but has anyone here ever had any experience with them (or even remember them)?! :)

I have no idea if they were quick or not btw.

One of my mates uncles had one when I was at school & back then it was the fastest & best car in the WORLD!!

Mind you at school anything you or your family owned was better than your mates!?

From memory his was a green one with a little badge on the back that said 'Handling by Lotus' or something with Lotus in the title so they must have done something together?!

Looks like the IPTOC is the place to go & find out all about them?! :crap:

I think that was the revised model, Lotus re-worked the suspension and brakes.

About 9/10 years ago when I bought my gtt, I worked with an old boy who had one. He kept telling me how it was the most unbelievable car EVER, was amazingly quick, and because it had the "handling by Lotus", it was the best handling car on the roads. He was known to be a bit of a Jackanory though, so no one took him seriously. Especially as he'd never "prove it" by taking anyone out in it, even after saying he would.

Quality, I'm interested to know the performance figures and spec levels. Maybe the Lotus tuned one was pretty good. Not seen one on the road for many years now.

Waiting for Raj to get involved with this thread :D

I think they had 2 litre engines with about 150 hp, but don't quote me on that

Lol. OK, how many words can you think of that both rhyme and are alliterative with Pizza?

I got Piza in Italy and Piazza the car in the first 60 seconds. :coffee:

I don't have any personal experience with them but they were quite popular in early 90's here in Cyprus.

they're believed to be very unreliable but same thing applies to the Gtt as you all know :coffee:

Lots of history here. Looks like the UK Lotus Turbo model was the one to have. 147bhp, over 166ftlb, 2.0, RWD. Sounds interesting.

Mark, they mention the Starion in the bumph :)

No performance figures as yet. I imagine they are a lot of fun wiv da boost.

That page is wrong, the 1.6 is turbo, the 2.0 is n/a only for the UK

Is it me, or have they glued a polished dildo to a car window and drove it fast while filming it from the inside?

Are you saying the figures are correct but the engine size is not Dave? Great, that makes it lighter then :) That makes sense as I always thought the Elan was 1600 Turbo.

Long winded but gives you a close up of Lotus badges, interior, engine bay etc.

IPTOC shows the UK turbo is indeed as I originally stated.

2.0 Turbo RWD with 147bhp and 167ftlb. 0-60 8.3 (d'oh), and LSD was a cost option.

Ah Im confusing it with the 1.6T which was in the later replacement, the Impusle.

The old 2.0 isnt 16v is it..

:agree:

No, 2v per cylinder Dave.

Looking on IPTOC it appears the number of cars still available has plummted in recent years. Looks to be only 60 left. :crap:
