A recess is cut into the top of the liners, all the way round and 'wire' inserted in esscence. Supposed to increase the strength of the head gasket, but have been found to cause leaks instead.

Besdies, what would you want going first, head gasket or bottom end?

GDI used to do it on ther rebuilds.

google it ;)

basically, a copper insert is imbedded into the top edge of the liner to help create a stronger seal between the headgasket and liner...

i think its been discussed as to whether or not its actually a good thing to do...as it can accentuate fatique spots in the liner themselves dependant on the combusiton conditions...

NOW WAS THAT A LOAD OF DRIVEL OR WHAT

or was it...:crap:
