£10000 and its got rust starting to appear! I'd want it totally mint for that price

It is a nice looking car don't get me wrong, but not quite worth the price.

Hmm, only in Sussex, may be worth checking out.... not that i'd EVER pay 10k for a GT turbo, no matter how many miles or how mint it was... unless of course one had like 10 miles & been in a bubble somewhere... even then...

exactly, a car with rust is worth sh1t all like mine is.. low miles arent worth a wnk without a totally solid shell and tip top paint..

Quite true and yes that was the reason for the message.

Would be interested to have learned a little more about the owner and more importantly the car - in particular the point in the advert about rust coming through.

We'll see.........

Actually I work with a guy who's mates with the owner, apparently he's been offered near enough 10k for it, but he swore up and down it had only done 1700, not 17,000 miles, so I'm a bit confused by the advert :crap: I've seen it briefly drive past but not enough to gauge it's condition.

Oh, it's gonna be in one of the french car mags this/next month, will be more info there!

Well I have now heard direct via email from the owner - the car has done 17000 (16000 was quoted in the advertisement) according to the picture that I have.

The car is indeed very nice but appears (from the pictures) to have some rust just starting in the base of the door shuts which I think rules it out for my purposes. I have yet to hear confirmation back from the owner on this however.

The worth / price of any car at this age is difficult to judge - in my view a car which has been stored for all but 20 years and looked after as well as this looks to have been (I have not spoken directly to the owner and nor have I seen the actual vehicle) is worth whatever anyone is prepared to pay for it.

Just my opinion.

I have to agree, there are collectors out there, if some rich bloke see's the car and likes it, then fair play.

But i know i would never spend anywhere near that kind of money on a 2nd/toy car etc... Unless its good condition T2 or something of the sort.

I could make a Cup car road legal.. they have 1k on the clocks(sometimes less)... if you spent a bit on the bodywork you could make it a very nice/mint shell (providing its had no major knocks) would that make a 5 worth £10k?

I very much doubt it...

I think that what you have said in general is true but ....

No-one can 'recreate' something original - it can only be acquired - and then often only after a great deal of searching and often much investigation.

That is what potentially makes proven original low mileage cars (of any marque) unusual if not unique (read 'less common') and it is that distinction that attracts a premium.

I paid £8700 for my Raider back in 1990, 1 month old and around 1000 miles on the clock, new price was around £10500, 19 years later i still drive it every day and still love it, but £10000 now for an unknown car- i dont think so!
