OK then ill try to keep this simple.

The oil p. gauge. do the clocks send a 12v signal to the oil p sender then earth itself out thriugh the clocks giving a signal?

Or do they work a different way.

The speedo. out of the 3 wires i assume that there will be an earth (bare wire), a 12v permanent (red?), and a pulse signal back to the clocks (whatever the 3rd colour is).

Or do they work differently also.

all help as always appreciated.

Hi, both things work different to how you describe.

The oil pressure and warning lamp sender switches to earth - they have no live feed. the sender varies its resistance to block earth, the lamp just switches to earth in cases of low pressure.

The speedo sensor is a VR sensor, it does not make a pulse like a hall effect or optical sensor would. the outer screen is earth, the red and white wires go to the sensor. it works in the same way as your crank angle / TDC sensor does, incase that helps you understand it.
