View Full Version : caron fibre advice
anyone know the best way to bend carbon fibre?
im planning to make a custom air box sort of thing under the bonnet but i dont wanna buy a shett of carbon and wreck it
any info or help
cheers guys
:)
Thin carbon sheets like 1.4mm is proper bendy and proper strong, I bent a spare bit i had from doing my door cards and I could bend it so the oposit ends were touching each other, you've gotta give some serious stick to break it
You cant .
It wont form from sheet ,it is layered in a mold under pressure to shape .Much like fibreglass .
It's cross layered that's how it gets its strength .

Well yes, it will roll into a tube .Diameter dependent on thickness :agree:

Sorry Clee is right, for a 90degree bend you'd have to buy it like that
so ther no way at all id be able to reshape it whithout either snapping it or just wasting my time?

Cut it and glue it neatly?
Cut it and glue it neatly?
Or make some little brakets
You can get real CF with an adhesive backing from 3M .Apply this to some thin ali or polycarbonate :agree:
