Thought it was time I uploaded some of my VAST old collection of Max Power Magazines from the 90's (when it was half decent ) featuring the 5 GT Turbo. Makes good reading all these years later & one of them feature someone still involved with these cars!!

I've uploaded six features & the details are below:

1) Sept 94 RTOC Group Thrash (http://www.rtoc.org/files/?path=Magazine Articles/Renault 5/Max Power Sept 94 5 GT Turbo Group Thrash/)

Five members of the RTOC try to beat the Turbonator's claim of being the fastest 5 in the country. Not sure if any of the guys in this feature or pictured at the event are still members?? Make sure you point yourself or whoever out if so? :D

2) Nov 95 Turbo PACS Tuners Feature (http://www.rtoc.org/files/?path=Magazine Articles/Renault 5/Turbo PACS Feature in Max Power Nov 95/)

'Tuning Specialists' Turbo PACS are featured in this edition and one to certainly set Mart :mart: off on a rant! :wasntme: Make sure you all read about their "Turbo Response System" :jerkoff:

3) Jan 98 David Kirk aka K-Tec's 5 (http://www.rtoc.org/files/?path=Magazine Articles/Renault 5/Max Power Jan 98 David Kirk Pre K-Tec and His 5/)

David Kirk before he started K-Tec & the feature on his 5GT Turbo full to the brim with GT Tuning stuff.... :innocent:

4) June 98 GT Tuning Customer car with 245bhp (http://www.rtoc.org/files/?path=Magazine Articles/Renault 5/Max Power June 98 245bhp GT Tuning Car/)

Red GTT with 245bhp again full of GT Tuning kit

5) Apr 97 GT Tuning vs Bavaria Motorsport Shootout (http://www.rtoc.org/files/?path=Magazine Articles/Renault 5/Max Power Apr 97 GT Tuning vs Bavaria Motorsport/)

One of GT Tunings cars vs Bavaria Motorsport  car back in the day

6) Sept 97 GT Tuning vs Five Alive Shootout (http://www.rtoc.org/files/?path=Magazine Articles/Renault 5/Max Power Sept 97 GT Tuning vs Five Alive Thrash/)

Second feature comparing tuners own cars that should have been a good feature but only two of the five or so they invited bothered to turn up!!

Hope you enjoy them & the whole retro look of Maxy P! Ahh the memories!! :D

The worrying thing though is that the oldest feature is now almost 15 years ago when some of the younger members of this club were still at primary school

Steve, FYI...

'Bavaria Motorsport' are/were a company based down here. They havnt touched engines for a while now and ventured off into I.C.E. as a speciality. Up until recently they were just down the road from me here, but the shop looks boarded up now.

- They were the company that installed all the audio in the Ali G 5 and have had ties with GT Tuning/K-Tec for a while now.

It was the very page in the thumbnail at the bottom of this post that started my love affair with the Raider model 14+ years ago :ashamed::scared:  I can remeber staring at that picture whilst at college loving the blue fleck on the seats and the Renault Sports Blue.

A couple of years later my Mum bought a brand new Clio 16v in that sports blue & as a car mad 18 year old I wanted one!!! I couldnt afford a Clio 16v but as for a Raider....... I reckon I could stretch to it...?? The rest as they say is history!!

at long last.... a picture of the legendary turbonators engine bay.

i can confirm they use the turbo 2 exhaust manifold, inlet manifold and intercooler!!!

they are also still using K-jetronic. intake is behind the n/s headlamp, whether its off a different car is another question.... the black intake plenum isnt a turbo 2 one though.

just thought you might want to know.:agree:

the turbo 2 runs a 6 pot metering head with 2 ports blocked off. i cant remember what size the metering disc is, but maybe the RST one is bigger? it was running RST injectors too....

Ah well done mate;)

I always loved that slogan they used in it, 'proof of the pussy is in the poking'

Got one from PGTI when it was first released again, back then it was abit more like how Andy (AJ) had it, the max power one i had changed a hell of alot.

And before anyone notice's yes i know 270bhp! I've learnt alot since then:D

Makes you wonder why so few of the cars featured in these magazines are still about??

I've never seen that pink one before in Fast Car & have to say I don't care much for the colour but can see that it was nicely done??

You would think after the guys who spent so much money on the cars would sell them on to someone else who cared for it as much???

More than likely though it was sold to some clueless little oik with a big fat loan who promptly ran it into the nearest dyke!! :sad2:

Wow! Yeah that's pretty cool! That was my first Raider which has the reg H494 AEA, loved that car.

My new one was H523 HEV before i put my private plate on & their is another car in the club with H*** HEV

It'd loved to have visited the dealers which sold the cars originally? I can imagine on August 1st 1990 their were a couple of brand spankin new Raiders parked up ready to be picked up by their first owners! :smokin::cool:
