A very good point. GTT seats are really badly made, and 20 odd years of nutsing it around town with a fat git parked in them has done them no favours, especially where the wick has been turned up! Decent seats and decent, properly installed, harnesses is a very sensible upgrade.

You have to be careful with the no-name aftermarket seat brands/ replica seats though. A lot of them are really dangerous.

I'd say stick to the decent brands and avoid fleabay purchases unless you can be very sure the seats are genuine. Be careful of anything second hand. In date FIA approval is nice to have, especially if it goes on track.

Then make sure they are bolted in right!

I'm 1/2 looking for a light weight race seat, possibly one with sticky out bits for my helmet to bounce off next time I stick it in a wall...

That had to hurt. I didn't notice the seat move so far either when I saw it the 1st time round.

I find the edges too severe on those, you're likely to snap a flailing limb.

put some links up, I'll have a peek when I get back from the pub. If you get chance to weigh them rather than rely on the manufacturers highly inaccurate claims I'd be glad of that info too.

Perhaps just as well it did move else your neck might have been worse off that it was

quite possibly, I had a trip on a bodyboard as it was. Think you can see why I'd like something to catch my head

my helmet is pretty light too, a heavy fibreglass thing may have given my neck a bit more of a tweak too.

oh look, they have sissy covers ;) I managed 1.5hrs of driving round country lanes in one of those in bare metal form, it wasn't pleasent. I just bought another one from rob, I will have a passenger chair soon for the first time in a few years.

I think they're a bloody awfull seat as seats go, but, they're light which is why I have them. the chair on it's own is about 5kg I think. I have allu subframes also, the whole chair and subframe in my car is 7kg, a 10kg saving over the previous bucket chair and steel subframe. Unfortunately some of the events I want to enter this year insist on atleast 2 front seats hence my purchase of a second.
