hi i got my car rolling roaded last week but it didnt make as much bhp as i fort it would, they said about the turbo not being 100% ive sorted that in another thread.

what i was woundering was how much bhp can you get from standed internals and standed t2 turbo. as i would of fort you could get more from standed turbo.

its got bigger dual core intercooler and a groupe a carb, cone air filter and full straight through exhaust,

it only made 146.6 at the fly and at the wheels lost loads 104.1 and torque was 179lbs/ft

if any ones got an ideas on whats best to do to bump the bhp up a bit, that would be a good help, i was hopeing it was going to be round the 160-170 mark oh and its running 14psi cheers mike:)

Fort?

Power sounds about right for the boost level you're running, but as has been mentioned in previous, numerous threads (over the years), take RR figures with a large pinch of salt.

Im pretty new to the r5's and tuning etc, but id be happy with that kind of figure, from what ive read up for figures 150+ bhp most peeps seem to be running t25/t28s etc , T2 is a tiny little turbo at the end of the day but ill leave others to advise.

:agree: With the above two comments. If you want to get maybe a bit more BHP then lose the Group A carb as they are a f**ker to fuel for and replace it with a standard one. Rejet it if you need in order to set it up correctly. At a guess as I dont know if you had the tuner play with your fuelling, I would say that you are possibly running rich atm.

I could be wrong but i don't think the standard T2 will get near 160-170 ...... T2/25 hybrid will though...

I only got 131.7bhp running 16psi with a devil exhaust system and 145lb of torque so i would be happy with what you got.

It's possible, but that's getting near to the limits of the comp wheel.

Hi mart, just wondering how the bhp is roughly calculated from psi figures?

Put mine on rollers for a tune up and made 120bhp with 9psi only change from standard set up being straight through centre section and backbox which I'm happy with

There is no calculation as such, but as a very rough guide, you probably wouldn't be that far out by saying for every psi of boost you run, times it by 10, and there's your power figure.

I appreciate that 'formula' makes no sense at o.e boost levels, but seems on par once you start running 1bar+ boost.

Obviously that's assuming you upgrade the turbo (size) * once you start running right of the choke line, the engine is in good condition (good compression etc), and that there's no restricition to the air intake or exhaust paths.

Of course, there does come a point when it all starts getting a bit too restrictive (usually around 230hp), hence then more boost has to be run, to overcome that, but there won't be as much 'linear' power gain.

* And a cam to match.

I made 171 at the flywheel with my T2, like people say take the figure with a pinch of salt.

I only put my car on the rolling road to set it up,the power figure means nothing to me. Its what it performs like at the track.

So far i have gone a 13.2 @ 104 and i do hope to run a 12 on a T2.

Awesome time/trap for a t2 turbo. I was chuffed when i done a 14.2@94 with mine!

Cant forget ol' trusty & the 13.5 on a t2 though from back in the day;)

well it sounds like my car didnt to to bad then ill just have to get buying some more bits for it. if i got a hybrid t25 and a cam would that be stressing the standed internals to much say running like 17-18 psi or am i gonna ne need to fully rebuild and better head gasket

No standard internals will be fine with that.

Not big headed mate,i just spent lots of time working with what i had...If anything it's me being bloody tight he he.
I run a volvo clutch and a standard JB3 phase1 gearbox.
