my girlfriends clio has an engine problem won't rev past 1500rpm and it heats up pretty fast been told it might be a cracked cylinder head? dont have a clue what it is, or have the money to get it fixed:(
its a 51 plate 1.2 16v dynamique 61,000 miles and is still motd taxed for 6 months
been offered £500 for it but i thought it would be worth a bit more as is? what do you guys think?
thanks in advance chris

500 is a bit of an insult for a car of that age, u can get a replacemenet engine for less than that and have it put in

You'd be suprised Alex, my friend (who breaks clios) has bought running cars (with repairable front end damage) for around £500. Some of those cars being like, '03 reg 1.2 dynamiques with about 20,000 miles on the clock.

Either way though, you should get more than £500. My mate reckons stick it on ebay and it should fetch around £1000.

i think locate a member near you and ask for a hand. see what has gone wrong. it could be a cheap fix. always worth a second opinion

:agree:

Plus the 2nd hand car market is pretty much on its ass at the moment.

but still even for 500 sheets theres alot of motoring life to be had out of these cars

Well, £500 would be for one that would need welding done / new panels. It would be an insurance write off.

Check the cat/exhaust isn't blocked.

A lass i know asked me to drive her punto to kwik fit for an exhaust, blowing apparantly even though pretty quiet, not my car so wasn't bothered ;) The car would barely rev, lucky to get 20mph on full throttle & coolant temp was going right up. A massive bang happened & the car took off with half an exhaust  Centre silencer was blocked solid choking the engine.

Ouch. What's the average when it's a 'good' month? (before all this credit crunch shananigans)

isnt there a way to get it back on the road if its repaired and checked over properly?

Probably do even better now as the price of new cars in meant to be going up by an average of 4%.
