Ok it's that magical time of year again. Insurance is due..
P Direct have quoted £350 fully comp which is UP £30 from last year

Had a good quote £257 from HSBC but after ringing them they said it was lowered too much(30mm) However they didn't seem to mind the T25 kicking out 15-16psi

I've tried the usual online routes and have only managed to get 2 quotes from all the comparison sites.

1 - £257 as above
2 - £1430  (I think NOT)

35 years old , 6 years no claims , less than 3k miles a year.

Surley someone can insure me for under £300....:(

Any tried and tested insurers you know of. I NEED to be able to drive any other car and want the Mrs as a named driver.

No Mate. Will do. Will also try HIC although they were quite pricey last year. If not I'll try the old fashioned way, back pages of max power..:wasntme:

Hic, get it insured on a classic policy.

They don't allow named drivers or won't allow me to drive other cars. I can't remember which it was but thats one of the reasons I didn't go with them last year.

Thing is with many of the regular companies that they won't touch a car that has had modifications have you tried greenlight?

I rang Adrian Flux a couple months back to get a quote for my 5,im 35,no-no claims bonus but been driving since 97....£680 (all mods declared, quite a few) Fully comp with No limited mileage and agreed value @ 3000 .

Rang back the next day for a quote on a Nissan Skyline GTST 2.5 turbo (standard,no mods-quick enough tho) £710

The guy on fone couldnt realy explain why the skyline was only 30 quid more to insure than my 1990 R5....he just rambled on about age, rareness and mods.Insurance companys sure are strange,i cant work them out......i always remember when i got my first car everyone used to say "hey wait till your 25,then ya insurance will go right down an u can get something more powerfull"...........i got something more powerfull but im still waiting for those prices to come down and im 35 now! :(

Im paying about £1600 3rd party with mods declared at 22 with no windscreen cover and 5points which come off this year.Performance Direct seemed to be the only company that would insure me.Done go by the qouted on moneysupermarket because when i rang the actual company it was a a few hundred cheaper.

Seams to me most of you are being robbed , I insure the 5 with Footman James

http://www.footmanjames.co.uk/classic_car.aspx

Its a second car so I have limited milage to 3000 which is more than enough, but I pay £152 a year fully comp on a classic policy .............its the future!

To give you a bit more info for comparison I'm 26 with Full NCB, car is garaged and all mods are declared (Lowered, different alloys, DV, Exhaust, Silicone hoses) it also has an agreed value of £3k

My full no claims is not used on this policy as its used on my main car which is insured through Direct Line, however they take this into consideration hence the good price.
