As per my last thread. I need to get my Raider painted to get finished.

The car has a sunroof :cry: and during its storage at sometime during its life someone has put something heavy on the roof.

This has pulled a ridge down one side of the roof. One guy who has come to look at the car to give me a quote for painting it said that it 'might' be able to taken out from inside.

I am wondering if it would be possible to cut the roof off and weald a new one (without a sunroof) on it..

What do you think guys?

welding a roof panel on is a job that can be done, not sure you'll get a new one anymore but might even get a good/decent one of a breaker...BUT i would go for a repair first ...just my opinion but could save you hundreds..

fitting a roof is quite an involved job.the best way to get a new roof is to buy a good standard five and cut the roof off including the pillars

I think roofs are still available from renault... with out sun roofs only tho.

am i right in thinking that all sunroofs were fitted at the inport centre and not a factory option:agree::disagree:

YES...and also were dealer fitted too.......by men with spanners and £2.50 B&Q jig-saw.............most rusted the roof panel away,as they never treated the fresh cut metal ,,,,,oh dear.....

yeah when i had my car painted i removed the sun roof and who ever cut it out must have done it by eye:eek::eek::eek:

yup..............I have seen with my own eye's.....3 cut out ...before he looked at this big sheet of paper......

IF he had unfolded it it was a template of a 5 roof panel, with a template of where you cut out.....mmmmmm, Renault DID try to make it easy....

as Mart would say......FAIL...lol

Ok so go for repair first then, if it looks rubbish then there is a possiblity to change the roof.

im scrapping a campus about to get shell crushed if you want to cut it out its yours ?:) non sunroof
