I've stripped my carb yesterday and i noticed that the mixture screw has been removed and filled with silicone ??
I'm taking it that this isn't normal !! :smokin:

The mixture screw has been removed & the hole filled with silicone????
I know that people put a dollop of silicone on-top of the screw to stop it working loose but as for removing it & just filling the hole with silicone itself that's a new one to me!! :scared:

seen this many times my self.Mainley caused by people cross therading the mixture needle after screwing out to far
my mxture screw is evident however i can unscrew it all the way but it wont come out :(
remove the carb and poke a small piece of welding wire through the hole in the bottom of the carb the mixture screw pokes through. this should push it out...

sometimes they can be abit fiddly to remove. the o-ring sort of stop it coming out. you want a small magnetic screwdriver. works for me:agree:

do you want a new mixture screw mate . or have you got one .
i had this problem when i first bought my car i think its because the screws are renowned for popping out people do a quick bodge and think it runs fine and just leave it without replacing it.
was gana start a new thread but thought id post here. can the idle jet get blocked?
as my idle seems to crep up to say 1500rpm and say i was sat still if i take the revs a bit higher they will stay there. chokes not stuck and cables fine.
cheers

the idle jet can get blocked. is the spring on the accelerator linkage strong retracting properly and not causing it to stick open slightly.
yeah the spring is strong its pretty new and hasnt really had that much use.

squirt some wd40 down the cable sleeve and on the acc pedal just make sure nothing is holding it open. when it revs high again check the cable pull it back and see if the revs drop back down if they do then its cable assy related. if not start the search on the carb
awesome cheers 4 that m8 sound advice will give it ago 2moz, if it dont start snowin down here.
